I have met many Mexicans, not one of them lazy or dumb. I must say they were pleasant and respectful. What made me feel uncomfortable, it seemed they felt "under me". That really bothered me. I approached them speaking decent Spanish. That seemed to ease their sense of inferiority.
This is so true, when I offered them milk to drink with their meal, their whole attitude changed. They relaxed and felt more comfortable. I never understood the milk thing and I didn't ask. But between the four of them, they drank most of the gallon.

Hanging out at the gas station all day and snapping pics might draw all sorts of unwanted attention, criminal charges, and a general reputation of skeeviness. The family that lived down the street, and actually wore ponchos and sombrero-like (not quite as big) hats were thrown out after the cops lit the block up for over an hour, so I can't get pics of them. Trust me, the first time I saw it, standing in a gas station with a friend, we both looked at each other like WTF.
I'll give you the addresses though.
The Mexicans I have known were no different as far as worth ethic and basic adult life. The only big difference I noted was the consensus, amongst the ones I've known personally who said they believed in the old ways of relationships, of a woman's proper place and behavior. That I could not get with.

All about intent. If it's worn as buffoonery, making fun of Mexicans, then of course it's supposed to be offensive. But if it's because people wear stuff on Halloween they wouldn't normally wear, then it's just a costume. People wear national costumes such as lederhosen for Halloween because that's what they are -- costumes. This costume's exaggerated mustache is questionable, though.
