Oh yea, I saw that too. The poor girl had to live alone in a hut for months drinking jugs and jugs of some kind of fatty milk. She seemed miserable and did not like getting fatter.
The part that cracked me up was the grandmother sitting next to her offering encouragement, while whispering "drink it or I'll beat you" in as nice a way as possible.

I wonder how old these hospital are. It sounds like they probably needed to widen the door to accomodate newer medical equipment too. There are few people in the world who need doors widened so they can fit through them if the doors are an average size to begin with.

yeah but people getting taller with each generation means they're generally healthier. getting fatter is not a positive thing.

so? that doesn't make obesity a good thing.
neither excessively thin nor overweight is good. i don't think you can say the rise in obesity in recent times is not a sign of people getting healthier.

Er. We don't exactly have the numbers of unhealthily thin folk walking around that we do obese.
Nowhere near, in fact.

I'm torn on this issue. I know obesity is an epidemic of increasingly-alarming proportions in the world... but where is the boundary between hands-off and interventionist approaches drawn? As I noted in the 'Open letter' thread, I don't care if a person is obese.. it's their life and they can choose to adopt whatever lifestyle they so choose.. but when a persons weight and/or lifestyle choices may infringe upon the health of their children pre- and post-delivery, then I really think it becomes a matter of NEEDING to implement necessary changes for the sake of the child.

fat people are a drain on the health care system, it is unnessary for them to be fat, for 99pct of people its something they can fix themselves by eating healthy and exercising, but most dont. its not like cancer or something like that, that is uncontrollable and unpreventable.
lazy people are damn annoying

Not all fat people are lazy. Not all of us don't exercise... that stereotype is bullshit. I've always worked harder and played even harder than most of my slim friends and family members...

I'm more refering to the people who shove fried food, junk food, fat filled food down their throats daily and wonder why they are obese and dont do anything to fix the problem, just keep on eating those burgers...
