If people want to be that size than fine, but why should other people go out of their way to accommodate them? The tax money that's going to pay for extra wide doors could go to better use, like education.

I can't speak for other folks, and I dare not to, I can only speak for myself, and about my weight. I fit in regular size shit. I don't need two seats when I fly, a seat belt extender when I drive, nor specially made furniture..none of that...but because I'm not what is considered 'normal size' it's an issue. I ordered a XXXX-L hospital bed for a client of mine this summer, I didn't know they came that large. I am not saying that being that large is right or of, I just want to know what business is it of anyone else who it isn't directly affecting?

oh please. in that case, why not stop reasearch to cure cancer too... i mean, cancer only affects those afflicted with it, they aren't infecting other people with their disease, etc...
i'm not talking about 'regular' overweight here. i'm talking massively obese. it's a health issue. and one that is fairly 'new' in the sense that there are more and more morbidly obese people than there used to be. that's not something anyone can deny.

Yep. Have you ever looked at the label on so-called "fruit juice". I blame juice and chicken nuggets.

So, it's fat people's fault that people are starving? Should I share my dinner?

This has got to be bullshit. The doors in hospitals are already very wide as a standard to wheel the beds in and out ... I have trouble believing they have a large enough population of women who are wider than a hospital bed ... if that were the case they would have to be buying new beds too...
I don't buy this entirely.
Not to say there aren't a WHOLE LOT of fat people (I was one of the millions for a long time), but I don't think this store is entirely factual.

Funny how it seems the 'real world' has big issues with obesity, while celebuturds seem to have an issue with anorexia.

I think there is a difference between overweight (fat), and morbidly obese people. I assume the article is talking about morbidly obese individuals. I can't imagine someone who is OVERWEIGHT needing that.

FFS, I'm overweight. But living here in MS? I feel positively skinny sometimes. What's interesting is that in the last few years since my son has been in private school, the number of parents who are overweight or obese is significantly (and I mean in a major way!) lower than it was amongst the parents of the kids in the public school he started in for Kindergarten. Not that taking care of oneself properly should require more money...
And as we're talking about mothers giving birth here....that's a prime example of how obesity DOES affect other poeple. An obese vessel is WAY more dangerous for a fetus. It's just a fact. What better motivation can someone need for losing weight (or at least trying not to gain any more than necessary if you do fall pregnant while overweight or obese) than the health and safety of their own child?

It is odd, huh? I wonder in how many cultures the desired weight is the opposite of the norm. I have some friends from Nepal, and most people there are thin, and fat people are considered extremely beautiful--being fat is sort of a status symbol.
I've never heard of a morbidly obese Nepali, though.

Somewhere in Africa a woman is considered more attractive as a wife if she is really obese. I think that the woman in that part of the country spend most of their waking hours stuffing themselves when they are ready to marry. I remember watching a program on it but can't remember.
