See...I don't get that way of thinking.
I'm not gay, a minority, old, physically or mentally disabled or anything else, yet I am offended when those groups of people are blatently discriminated against and subjected to hateful words and comments. Same with overweight people.
Why do you think someone has to be the actual target of discrimination to take a personal stand or find offense with that discrimination? Cause it makes your (proverbial you) case easier to make? Less people for you to defend yourself against?
This world would be a sad place indeed if only the people being directly discriminated against were the ones who got to stand up for themselves and point out the discrimination and hateful words. Luckily, that's not how things work.
But again, I like how I'm being told what I should and shouldn't take offense to. What a novel way to argue a point.

Hateful words? Where did I say anything hateful? All I said was the truth. Obese people have more health problems then someone who is healthier in their weight, and I dont mean a being so skinny you can count their ribs.
You are acting like its a personal attack on you, and its not. But how can you say that someone who is so fat that they require doors widened for them is healthy? How is that healthy? You can stand up for whoever you want, but I'll be truely stunned if you think that kind of obesity is healthy.

Daybreak, yet another battle. Far off birds are chirping and the clouds streak across the sky in lovely peachy colors. Unaware of their surroundings, the battle continues...

I never said you said hateful words. That's why I put the phrase "proverbial you" in my post. I was speaking in general terms. But you were the one who said that if someone wasn't obese, then they shouldn't take offense to what was being said, as did Dallas.
Overall, there's some seriously hateful shit on this board about fatties (not about member fatties mind you, but stranger fatties, which for some reason makes it all better) and blatent discrimination towards overweight people in general. I can clearly see it in this thread as well.
My question was: since when do only the people being discriminated against get to be the ones to stand up and take offense to that discrimination? I'm not asking you about your comments about fat people. I'm asking you specifically about your comments about who gets to take offense to those comments, and putting that question out there for anyone else who made similar comments.
Further, I never said obese was healthy. - I said that fatties don't have the market cornered on the societal ills that have been attributed to them in this very thread.
- I wondered why fatties have to be treated like sub-humans, degraded and shamed and not given the basic rights to medical care simply because of their size.
- I questioned whether the hate and vitriol I see on this board about fatties really comes from a place of caring about their health or if that was just a PC smokescreen to hide true feelings cause it doesn't sound so nice to admit the real truth behind the statements. Which, IMO, the truth is that people find fat people disgusting and scary. And that's the actual reason for the hate and discrimination.

Your sig quote is actually from Elbert Hubbard. I'm not sure why people attribute it to Einstein.

Hmm...I don't know. Maybe cause it's all over the internet that that's who said it? I heard it when I was playing poker and Googled it and it came up as attributed to Einstein. I just Googled it again and don't see it attributed to Hubbard in the first few pages, unless I'm missing something. Where do you see it attributed to Hubbard? I do see he (Hubbard) said something similar.

^I've seen that attributed to Einstein on most quotation sites too.

Yeah, me too. The trouble is that some of those quotation sites allow people to submit quotes, they all copy from each other, and none give sources. I've seen several variants in wording too. It appeared as "Genius may have its limitations, but stupidity is not thus handicapped." in Hubbard's magazine Philistine: A Periodical of Protest in the September 1906 issue. None of the Einstein quotes gives a source. I think Einstein has almost as many quotes misattributed to him as Ben Franklin!
Anyway, off topic and all but I thought if you liked the quote, you might be interested.

Actually, I'd like to take back what I said about that. Who am I to dictate what people should and shouldn't get offended about? I actually feel like a bit of a jackass for having told nwgirl that she has no grounds to be offended since she's not obese. Very uncool of me.
ETA: But I'm still aggravated (no longer angry or pissed-off) about the generalizations she made. It's kind of ironic when you think about it. She made a generalization that nobody on this board gives a rat's ass about fatties and their health. I find that as preposterous as my telling her she shouldn't be offended because she's not one of them.

Thanks, Novice. But don't let word get around that I don't mind eatin' a little crow from time to time. It'll ruin my reputation!

Rica, if you're so concerned about other people "draining the system", then why don't you stop draining the Netherlands system? It's hypocritical of me to say so, because I don't have a job right now, either, but damn it, I don't sit around getting wasted out of my damn skull, or getting fucked all day. I'm saving the little money I get toward getting my last name changed, and to pay for a GED. What do you spend your money on? Do you even get any? What do you do besides play that one RPG all day, or watch your friends play XBOX all day long? HOW did you earn the money to travel from Australia to the Netherlands, when you told me ticket prices to fly were so outrageous? And that you did this several times?
Rica, I may not be any better than you, but damn it, I plan on having a future of some kind. I don't plan on playing The Sims 2 all day anymore, I don't plan on sleeping all day anymore, just whatever I do, I'm eventually gonna cut down on. And certainly, I'm not going to spend my future being a wasted, pathetic drunk, like so many of my friends and family turned out to be.
You're judgemental attitude's really getting on my tits. Obviously on everyone else's. You may not think you are, but you really have this heir about yourself of being better than everybody. The world can't and won't work to your standards, because if it did, it would implode in on itself. You think you know everything, and honey, you don't know jack shit about anything.
Oh, and I think there were a few times where you've told me, you have smoked pot and gotten high. Glad to see you've covered that up so the arguement could go in your favor.
I had to get that off my chest. Had to, had to, had to. Sorry for another thread derailment. And considering the content of it, if it's breaking any rules, you may never see me post here, again. No, this isn't a FTB, either.

^^ Wow. That post... um... surprises me. At first, I thought I was reading satire. Because I thought you two were pals, Nicole. But, as has been proven already, I am capable of being wrong about something.
So yeah. I'mma go run and hide for a while cuz I feel like I just entered the Twilight Zone...
