Lawsuit: Scumbag Pill Price Gouger Stalked and Harassed Ex-Coworker's Entire Family

Even before he earned national infamy for jacking up the price of life-saving cancer and HIV meds and then being a general shit about it on Twitter, Turing Pharmaceuticals CEO Martin Shkreli was working hard on a toxic reputation. Court documents show Shkreli’s disturbing history of tormenting the wife and daughters of a business foe.

Timothy Pierotti was a colleague of Shkreli at his pervious biotech venture, Retrophin, before an alleged business deal gone awry created bad blood. From there, legal documents allege, Shkreli proceeded to harass and threaten Pierotti’s family via email, Facebook, LinkedIn, and text message. Pierotti says Shkreli—a one time Forbes “30 Under 30” honoree—even broke into various online accounts owned by his family:

In January of 2013, Pierotti’s wife received this letter, ostensibly from Shkreli, in which he says “I hope to see you and your four children homeless and will do whatever I can to assure this”:

The campaign of harassment continued through the rest of 2013, including a litany of Facebook messages and friend requests, including one sent to Pierotti’s elderly father. A sampling can be viewed below:

Pierotti’s son, 16 at the time, received these IMs:

Shkreli was even creative enough to use LinkedIn as a channel for harassment:

The creepiest moment from a creep who seems to know no bounds is this text message to Pierotti’s wife—one of many such “sweetie” texts, according to a police report:

That same police report includes accusations that Shkreli had broken into Pierotti’s Gmail account, using that access to reset his Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter accounts. Shkreli allegedly went so far as to publish unflattering posts about Pierotti from Pierotti’s own Facebook account, prompting him to discover that many of his passwords had been changed without his permission:

According to the police report, Shkreli denied even knowing Pierotti when contacted by an officer. He later settled out of court for an undisclosed amount, Bloomberg reports.

I use triptan drugs for migraines. Almost all insurance companies have stopped paying for the "newer" migraine drugs and will consider everything to either be non-formulary or just not cover them at all. If I were to pay for the migraine medication I was using before, I would be paying about $700 per month. That's with a coupon discount program through GoodRx. $700 per month for NINE pills. NINE pills. The drug is called Treximet. It's basically the generic version of Imitrex (sumatriptan) and naproxen sodium in one pill. Luckily, my doctor just prescribes the generics of both and I pay about $20 per month.
This must be like another version of Frovatriptan- that drug has been a life-saver for me, but costs close to $800 per month and that's WITH my extremely expensive insurance covering some of it.
Good news though Krisnine, if my hunch is correct and Treximet is a different version of Frova the patent will be up in November or December of this year which means there will be far less expensive generics available soon.

If you’re dying to give some life advice to Martin Shkreli, the CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals who jacked up the price of the drug Daraprim from $13 a pill to $750, your friendly neighborhood hacker has some info to share with you.
Caving to the resulting uproar, Shkreli has since announced that he’ll be lowering the price. According to The New York Times, the new price will be $1,050 for 30 pills, which is around double the original cost, but it’s obviously a huge improvement from the $750 per pill price tag Shkreli originally tried to push
Either way, the Internet’s wrath is still going strong, and now hackers have joined in the fray.
Using an anonymous Twitter account, someone posted what is alleged to be Shkreli’s address and phone number, tweeting it to other big name accounts like the AIDS organization ACT UP and Occupy Wall Street. Not surprisingly, the info is getting passed around quite a bit.

San Diego company slaps ‘Pharma Bro’ down by offering same cancer drug for $1 a pill

San Diego company slaps ‘Pharma Bro’ down by offering same cancer drug for $1 a pill

    Martin Shkreli (Twitter)

A San Diego-based company announced on Thursday that it would compete with Martin Shkreli’s Turing Pharmaceuticals by offering the same drug used to help AIDS and cancer patients for $1 a pill, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

Imprimis Pharmaceuticals, a compounding-drug firm, said it would begin selling its own version of the generic drug pyrimethamine, which Turing was marketing under the name Daraprim. Shkreli was roundly criticized last month after his company raised the price for the drug from $13.50 a pill to $750 a pill after acquiring the patent.

The version Imprimis will be selling includes pyrimethamine and another generic drug, leucovorin, which is typically used to help cancer patients going through chemotherapy. The two drugs are the active ingredients in Daraprim.

Mark Baum, Imprimis’ CEO, said his company plans to offer similar compounded drugs soon.

“We are looking at all of these cases where the sole-source generic companies are jacking the price way up,” he told the Associated Press. “There’ll be many more of these.”

According to Baum, his company’s mix of the two drugs has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration. However, both the ingredients themselves and the company’s compounding work have been approved. The drug can only be sold after being prescribed by a doctor to a specific individual. The company is selling a bottle of 100 pills for $99 through its website.

For someone with nothing to loose, such as terminal, this guy better hide. I would have no problem putting a bullet in this guy's head, provided I was on a natural death row. Sometimes murder is the the right thing to do. I'm so evil. hehe

Turing CEO Martin Shkreli arrested in securities fraud probe

NEW YORK | BY NATE RAYMOND

Martin Shkreli, a lightning rod for growing outrage over soaring prescription drug prices, was arrested by the FBI on Thursday after a federal investigation involving his former hedge fund and a pharmaceutical company he previously headed.

The securities fraud probe of Shkreli, who is now chief executive officer of Turing Pharmaceuticals and KaloBios Pharmaceuticals Inc, stems from his time as manager of hedge fund MSMB Capital Management and CEO of biopharmaceutical company Retrophin Inc, a person familiar with the matter said.

He is expected to be named in an indictment in federal court in Brooklyn, New York, along with Evan Greebel, who was Retrophin's outside counsel while he was a partner at law firm Katten Muchin Rosenmann, prosecutors said.

Brooklyn U.S. Attorney Robert Capers is scheduled to hold a press conference with officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission at noon EST (1700 GMT) to announce the charges, his office said.
Reuters witnessed Shkreli's arrest at the Murray Hill Tower Apartments in midtown Manhattan. Law enforcement including Federal Bureau of Investigation agents could be seen escorting Shkreli, who was wearing a hoodie, into a car.
FBI spokeswoman Kelly Langmesser confirmed the arrests of Shkreli and Greebel.

Shares of KaloBios were down 53 percent at $11.03 in the premarket. Retrophin fell 6 percent to $20.02.
Turing and KaloBios declined to comment. Lawyers for Retrophin and Shkreli did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Efforts to reach Greebel were not immediately successful, and a lawyer could not be immediately identified.
A privately held startup, Turing sparked controversy earlier this year after news reports that it had raised the price of Daraprim, a 62-year-old treatment for a dangerous parasitic infection, to $750 a tablet from $13.50 after acquiring it.
Shkreli, 32, was expected to be charged on Thursday for illegally using Retrophin assets to pay off debts after MSMB lost millions of dollars, the source said.

The probe, by federal prosecutors in Brooklyn, dates back to at least January when Retrophin said it received a subpoena from prosecutors seeking information about its relationship with Shkreli.
That subpoena also sought information about individuals or entities that had invested in funds previously managed by Shkreli, Retrophin said in a regulatory filing.

MSMB Capital Management was founded in 2009, and Shkreli announced its closure in 2012. Retrophin was founded in 2012, and Shkreli was its CEO until the company fired him in September 2014.
Retrophin in August sued Shkreli in federal court in Manhattan for $65 million, claiming he had used his control over Retrophin to enrich himself and pay off claims of investors in MSMB, which he had also defrauded.
    Shkreli has denied the allegations.

At least two separate Congressional probes have been launched since September on the pricing issues of Daraprim, which had long been available as a generic drug used to treat toxoplasmosis in AIDS patients. Turing is under investigation by the New York state attorney general for antitrust concerns.

At a Senate hearing on drug pricing last week, a doctor who treats babies with life-threatening toxoplasmosis testified that a course of treatment with Daraprim went from about $1,200 to no less than $69,000.
