What shit? It's fact. Don't ask me why. If you don't believe me Google it Becky. Start with Doug Cameron and then maybe Craig Johnston. Plenty more.

I am aware of Scots leaving. I'm sure there'd have been scores more if they weren't dying in poverty and could afford it. I can assure you there are plenty of socialists and trade unionists left here, they didn't all escape to Oz. Your comments sound almost like you're trying to provoke me and I really don't appreciate it. I understand that Thatcher is political marmite, so perhaps I should leave it at that before I say something I might regret.

Not trying to provoke you at all. Just taking on a subject we clearly have different views on and that may involve stating a few truths the other isn't comfortable with. I don't take these things personally and neither do I steer away from potentially touchy subjects provided we can discuss it like grown ups (and I know you can). I enjoy the debate.

It seems the Iron Lady can still divide opinion after all these years. RIP

Where are they going to bury her? Maybe they should keep it a secret or have the grave be guarded because it looks to me like there will be lines to piss on it.

I think she's going to be cremated after the funeral. Probably for many good reasons. It's her family's call although Im sure she left very clear and firm instructions LOL

I wonder how she got such HEIGHT in her large bouffant coif...that must have been two cans of hair spray.

I recall her not being very empathic during the Brixton race riots...she only dismissed claims that racism and poverty were the causes of the riots.

Oh boy, the public funeral is going to bring about a lot of violence, I fear.

Unfortunately her decisions are STILL effecting the UK, we have no industry now to assist with the GNP so we are still in recession when countries like Germany aren't. You know little stuff like that really kind of pisses the people off that still actually live here.

Yeah, she privatised a lot of industries, so now there is no-one who is going to build renewable energy or new power stations so come 2020, we're fucked.
The incoming Labour Govt couldn't re-privatise the industries because the whole thing was too far gone and it would have cost them way more than they had to spare to do this. At least they had some economic sense.
Also, its all very well selling of council houses, but by preventing councils building more the total stock of social housing has shrunk and shrunk; and again we're now fucked if you can't afford to buy your own home.
Not only this but she also invented the dole-culture where for the first time, with so many people unemployed, it no longer because shameful to be on the dole. Bet David Cameron is really thanking her for that one, eh?

Also, if you came from a mining area, you got £££ thrown at you to move, re-locate, retrain or get a job somewhere. It must have cost them a lot more to do this and re-generate these areas as for a stupid woman's pride.
Seeing the steel industry in sheffield now is sorrowful. Generations of skilled steel makers, reduced to finishing cutlery made in china. *shakes head*
As someone who is from Yorkshire (mining & steel towns), Yes, Skargill (the miners union leader) PREDICTED that she would do away with the NCB, unfortunately, the year long strike where it got to civil war practically where RUSSIA was giving money to Union funds to help with soup kitchen (and this is before peristoka where there were queues for queues in Russia) and the Police did despicable things to strikers. Twenty years on and the Police are still an embarrassment in Yorkshire.

Guess who bought the industries that she sold off? Yeah, none of her British friends. Then they moved everything somewhere cheaper and Britian became a service industry with no income in the world markets. Then companies discovered that India can answer phones cheaper than they can in Warrington & Yorkshire & the whoel cycle began again.

To me, she's a feminist icon who rose through the male dominated political dog eat dog ranks to the top job on her brains, determination and convictions whether we agree with them or not. It's even more remarkable when you consider it happened over 30 years ago. She grew up in a very modest home, went to Oxford university to study chemistry, graduated and went to work as an industrial chemist, got married, decided to become a tax barrister, had twins while taking her final Bar exams, all the while trying and eventually succeeding to enter Parliament as a young female MP.
With all due respect, what utter bollocks. She didn't appoint any women to the Cabinet or the minimum possible and she pulled up the ladder after her. You might as well use the rest of that description on Hitler. At least he loved his mother and dogs.
