Man jumps from Empire State Building

i remember a person was on an overpass here, standing, waiting to jump. the police were trying to talk him down, when all of a sudden, fools started cheering him on. He was holding up traffic on the freeway, obviously distraught, eventually jumped and was killed. it was so very sad

There is a bridge about 20 minutes from here, the one that they jumped a car from on the movie Triple X I guess. Probably 2 1/2 hours from the Golden Gate bridge. Same thing, frequent jumpers, rarely publicized for the copycat factor.

My brother is a CHP officer (California Highway Patrol) and on his way across the bridge pulled over as a girl was about to jump. She was out of his reach and jumped, and I guess looked him straight in the eye as she went down. The girl was about the same age as his daughter and it really really hit him hard, for quite a while after that. The after effects when someone does this is tremendous. I have been to the top of this bridge, out in the middle, and looked down. Vertigo from hell. Can't even imagine.
