Do you have kids though? It's easy to say that now, but there are SO many other reasons why a teenager would change. If you can even talk to them that is...I knew during my teen years my mom knew nothing about me becaue all she got from me was "Uh huh" or "I don't know."

My understanding is her oldest child is 19. That means for the first 5 years she was there alone. I get that she was probably a broken woman before she was even put in there, having been raped since 11. But I would have thought that 5 years stuck in there alone with the only visits being from your rapist. I think I would have tried to escape, even if it meant I was killed by a booby trap.

I guess no-one really knows what they would do unless they were in that situation. Maybe her will to survive was so great that she felt the only way to ensure that was to not try to escape.

Apparently the crazy fuckhead told his daughter taht if she or any of them did anything to harm him gas would be released into the chamber and they would die. You just can't say what you would do in this situation, especially because she had been abused for eyars prior so was already under his 'spell, as it were.

Apparently the oldest child that was rushed to hospital is not expected to live, she has multiple organ failure . If she dies the authorities are going to charge the 'dad' with murder. But he should be charged with murder anyway because it was his fault that one of the twin babies died soon after birth.

I've waited quite awhile to say anything about this story because my head has been asploding. IMO there simply is no punishment enough to right this wrong. I think the best thing anyone could do in this situation is to kill the father, at least then his offspring would be without their greatest source of fear and may have a shot of developing some sort of normalcy in the future. I mean, could you imagine looking over your shoulder for the rest of your life wondering if this bastard was ever going to be released or escape? I think his execution is the only way to begin freeing them from that dungeon. Its not enough, but nothing could ever be enough.

^^ Austria is part of the EU. I believe one of the rules you have to follow as an EU nation is no capital punishment. I could be wrong on that.

Put him in jail for the rest of his life. I'm sure the other prisoners in there will have heard about what's happened and will take care of him anyways. Death would probably be too easy of a way out.

I'm still completely horrified about this story. I can't begin to fathom the lives of the poor kids and their mother that had to stay down there.
