On a somewhat-related note, my kids (3rd and 4th grade) got called into the assistant principal's office and were given a warning because they were on the bus and talked with another kid (let's call them person A) about a horror movie, and a fourth kid (person B) overheard them, got freaked out, and couldn't get to sleep that night. The mom called in to the school to complain about this.

The weird thing is that the school never contacted us about it, just our kids.

By the way, the movie was called "Smiley" and the bad guy looks like an evil catcher's mitt.

I wish the worst thing my kid learned on a bus was details of a scary movie.

Then the school didn't deem it worthy enough to bother you with it. No worries.
RELIGION: Treat it like it's your genitalia. Don't show it off in public, and don't shove it down your children's throats.

I'm trying to imagine what my parents response would have been to me "freaking out" about getting scared by a secondhand telling of a horror movie. I think there would have been some eye rolling involved and not one phone call placed to school.

Eh, it really doesn't bother me that she got all that money. So she won the 15-minutes-of-fame lottery. If 30,000 people donated, that averages to a little over $20 a person. People waste that much on a lot less deserving things. And less deserving people (like a lot of the celebs we slag off on a daily basis) make a lot more for doing very little.

Sure, it would be nice if she went all philanthropic with the money, but if she doesn't, so what. I'd rather see it go to her than the Kardashians or Octomom.

I don't have a problem with her receiving that amount of money. It wasn't because she deserved it, it was more of a show of solidarity and support. I think it's great that many people donated as a show of support.

People spend money all the time on little things that make them feel good momentarily but have no tangible value. This is no different. The people that gave to her got a good feeling from doing so. I don't think that makes them fools.

Silly Chilly, you have to have something bad happen to you to start a fundraiser! Get in an accident, get cancer, lose a husband in the war, have a harelip, something like that.

What, it's against the rules now for kids to talk about movies in case some overly sensitive snowflake has a nightmare? Give me a fucking break. It's a good thing I'm not an assistant principal, because I probably would've told the mom to take the opportunity to explain the difference between reality and make-believe and not expect the world to stop spinning for jr.

Think of all the money wasted on Teen Mom, Toddlers and Tiaras, Snooki, Jwow, Kardashians, Honey Booboo, Duggars (and those idiots who are replacing the Duggars), the Real Housewives of Anywhere, the Basketball wives. If all those dumbasses can get some dollars, so can this woman.
