But he wore the pin for a year before a ruckus was raised. It seems that the problem came in once he started bringing in the Bible, so maybe that was it. Maybe he was preaching to people and offended someone and HD is just using the pin as an excuse.

I have supported atheists who do not want the mention of spirituality, regardless of which one a person follows, within government. Now it seems as if the act of mentioning or alluding to one's beliefs, unless those beliefs are atheist, outside the walls of home or church is being eradicated one area at a time. That I can not, and will not, support. There is a freedom of religion. What next? Will people be fired for wearing a cross pendant, star of david brooch, or any other accessory deemed religious, thus "offensive"?

Just because someone doesn't like it or agree doesn't mean that person should be punished. Walk away. I do it all the time when the zealots start their ranting.

Nobody's putting the guy in jail - a private company with guidelines for what can and can't be worn on the job fired someone for violating dress codes. Freedom of religion doesn't mean an employer has to pay you to advertise your religion with Jesus flair if they don't want to.

If a company fired someone for NOT wearing their Jesus flair, I'd say the same thing. Within reason, you follow the rules or you get the boot.
