Cockroaches are distantly related to arthropods such as spiders (arachnids) and crustaceans (shrimp, crabs and lobsters). Cockroaches are insects (Class Hexapoda) and lobsters are decapod crustaceans (Class Crustacea). The term 'roaches of the sea' reflects the behavior of lobsters as omnivorous scavengers. Cockroaches will eat almost anything organic and so will lobsters. They clean up the dead and dying plants and animals in their environment.

Are lobsters and roaches in the same family

Medical Examiner: Cockroach-eating man choked to death

    POSTED: 2hr UPDATED 2hr

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - WPLG --

The Broward Medical Examiner's Office released the cause of death of the man who ate dozens of insects as part of a contest to win a python.

Edward Archbold, 32, died Oct. 6 after eating dozens of cockroaches and worms at Ben Siegel Reptiles in Deerfield Beach, Florida.

According to the ME, Archbold choked to death. Testing found that the body parts from the insects blocked his airway.

Laboratory tests for drugs came back negative.

The ME deemed Archbold's death an accident.

Deerfield Beach has the coolest/weirdest pet stores. One of the shops I visited sells sugar gliders, blue emperor scorpions, and bats.

With children getting shot and women being gang-raped and beaten to death, someone who dies by their own hand in this fashion? Not a lot of sympathy in this corner.

Well, at least now we know for sure that he didn't die from all the live insects in his gut eating him up from the inside out.

Heh, we boil and eat whole lobsters about once a month here. There's very little in them that isn't edible, actually...

I haven't had lobster in years, but I recently had some massive king prawns and freaked some of the people with me by sucking the legs and various shell-y bits and eating the eyes. Yum!

    I'm so jealous of that!

And shrimp peels can be good, too. It's like soft shell crab. I don't know why people don't eat the shells and tails.
