I find it hard to believe that this is anything more than some rumor.
I believe this is true. Also, Seven Seas Lagoon "was originally constructed for swimming and surfing. An artificial wave machine was installed to simulate real ocean waves, but surfing was discontinued after it was discovered that waves from the machine were causing beach erosion. Swimming was later prohibited over safety concerns, because of boat traffic in the lake and also bacteria in the water. Signs are posted along the beaches warning visitors." - Source: https://www.mynews13.com/content/new...the_seven.html

On our beaches it means "Sharks/Bluebottles/Jelly-Blubbers/Killer Rips" so yeah, stay out of the water. I don't need a big Jaws sign as extra incentive.

Well I really hate Disney so I wouldn't be sad if this whole debacle hurts their business for a little bit.

we stayed at the polynesian over the weekend and they erected a fence structure all along the beach areas, at least there and the grand floridian.

the electrical water parade didn't run saturday night and we were guessing that it was because one of the floats is a giant alligator (crocodile?).

Did you guys here the latest? There are pics (and a video, too, I think) of a Disney worker fighting off a gator trying to keep it out the freaking Splash Mountain ride as guests go down the log flume.

ETA - this is him in the foreground, trying to deal with it:

I was thinking it was near the ride, not in the water that the ride goes into. I thought the gator was climbing out of the water near a walkway. I could be wrong.
