My mom attended a church where they actually preached this to their congregation. I was only allowed to celebrate Halloween when I was like thirteen and we switched churches and pastors. By then, it wasn't quite the same. Especially when your friends are dressing up as hookers instead of witches or ghouls.

oy! I've been happily celebrating Halloween since 1984ish.
It seems to have become a lot more common over here in the last decade as shops realise it is quite a money spinning opportunity. When I was younger me and my friends spent ages making Halloween decorations because you couldn't buy much in the way of decorations. Now there are freakin aisles dedicated to it! Shame in a way.

A local reverend in my home town pulled this shit - very few people listened to him. The greatest irony was that his name was Pratt.
I'll celebrate Samhain and ignore the front door on the night (because the local kids are little chav shites who'll get nothing from me, even for one night a year because they make my life a misery the rest of the year. Oh, and a black bin bag is NOT a costume, you thieving little fucks!).
