Is that really how you see it? I can't take it that seriously. I see it as a part of the company culture that they stamp on a bag. Like their motto or something. They like it & it's meaningful to them. Is the mere sight of anything Christian really that offensive? It's not even like the guy handing out pamphlets. That IS annoying. But in order to get the offensive bag, you have to make a purchase.

It's tacky. It's also uncouth, presumptuous and inept.

And would you be just as offended if passages from the Quran or quotes from Confucius were written on the bag?

Personally I don't find that sort of thing offensive.

I would hate to live in a society where a private business wasn't allowed to choose to do this. Everybody is entitled to like it or not.

Gosh, I bet my avatar has offended thousands on this site...

Nuns shouldn't even be allowed to walk down the sidewalk. People see them, and that's offensive.

Yes, except Confucianism or the way of the tao isn't a religion. It's a philosophy.

They're trying to sell Jebus on a plastic bag for religiously unrelated purchases. That's tacky.

It's not about "not being allowed". They're allowed up here too, but they don't do it because it's just gauche and a good way to turn people off whatever they're selling.

Seriously, if they tried that people would look at it in disgust. There's WAY more of a separation between religious and secular life up here. Religion is, for the most part, kept in whatever house of worship it belongs. Going around flagrantly trying to push your particular sky fairy belief, outside of festivals and other accepted displays, is just.. blech.

Well, I'm glad I don't live there, then. I just can't see getting all worked up and offended over something so benign as a verse stamped on a bag. Tacky, well, obviously that's up to the individual to judge but I don't even think it's tacky. I would think it was tacky if they put a big crucifix by the front door and played hymns in the store and had a Jimmy Swaggart video playing. But the bag? Meh.

I am always happy when religiously oriented companies display their religion for the world to see, it makes it easier for me to decide where to put my money. I'm not interested in increasing the profits of a religious company which will more than likely increase the funding for their particular 'churches'. I don't donate to religiouslorganizations as a rule, so I don't shop at religiously affiliated companies. When they advertise their faith it makes things so much easier for me.

It will happen when President Ron Paul puts us back on the gold standard, and the inscription will be changed to "In Gold We Trust".
