Well, I took the church thing a little differently. It's almost like they're saying that she was made more trusting by Christian teachings--leading her to believe these boys/men wouldn't harm her--whereas skepticism and street smarts would've served her better. But maybe that's just my own interpretation and you guys are right, they're trying to defend her character or whatever.

That old school gang (who claims to be out looking for the guys involved that they know) actually has more decency to realize the wrongness of this event than the students being interviewed about the event. Goes to show what soulless savages are being raised today. Probably never heard the word "no"...and actually had it enforced...in their lives. And it's not just cause this is a poor, gang-riddled neighborhood or city or whatever. I know middle-class prepster kids (boys) with this kind of attitude toward women, especially when they got a little alcohol in them.
I hope they find as many of them as they can before the police.

I am surprised that they have released the names of the minor defendents.
I am truly horrifically stunned at the school's response. This happened on the campus in an area that they know is a problem. How did they not have security patrolling the entire facility until every damn person was out of the building and off the campus. The school officials seem to be patting themselves on the back that it didn't occur in the gym.

Interesting how the kids at the school have more empathy for the young rapists than the girl. What a fucked up place!
And really... those young monsters who raped the girl have problems and their grades are bad and shit? So if you're a D student that excuses gang rape now?

Applause for that one.

And still more.
I hate the God/chruch/religion thing being thrown into the mix as well. Maybe because I'm currently re-reading The God Delusion I'm reallyl hating it extra hard.

Maybe the church comment came from the girl's family or friends. The family are having to deal with their daughters horrific rape, and added to that, I would imagine a lot of people were making awful allegations about her character/morals. Maybe this is their way of defending her character.

Probably, and it still pisses me off that a victim's character needs defending.

It's been a long, long time since I've read any news that makes me so angry I can hardly think.
Those people are disgusting, every single one of them are animals.
The one who said something about "snitches" in a myspace comment should be arrested because he was likely a part of all that shit.
I think the "christian"comment or what kind of character the victim was is a device to explain that she was naive, and didn't know what she was getting into.
Which I'm sure in this case she probably didn't imagine what so ever that this would happen, no one could have.
Texting their buddies and telling them to come on down? Man, I hope the cops start checking cell phone texts from the incarcerated attackers in order to catch the others.
They're filth.

Some were caught and incarcerated. I can only guess that the names of those caught were released despite them being minors because they are being tried as adults.

Dumb question - I know the police can check the texts and calls of the people there that night, but can they also check to see if the video camera function was on during the rape? Is that possible?
