How so? It's her miscarriage, not someone else's.

"Welfare Wilma's having a miscarriage - thank goodness" would be insenstive.

Boy do I agree with you. And I can't stand how her shitty blogs get repurposed in other newsletters. There is one in particular I'm thinking of.

I remember one column that she wrote a couple of years ago in response to Leslie Bennetts' book "The Feminine Mistake", in which Ms. Bennett claimed (among other things) that women who depended on men to care for them made themselves financially vulnerable in the long-term. Penelope said that Ms. Bennetts should not be listened to because she was "so incredibly fat" and later deleted the post, but not before people pounced on her for it. (Ms. Bennetts' take on it: Leslie Bennetts on the controversy surrounding THE FEMININE MISTAKE | Every Woman's Voice)

Or are you thinking about the post that said people should do yoga in the workplace bathroom? Didn't that one get her fired from Yahoo?

She is in the midst of trying to get a guy to marry her. He keeps dumping her--now, suddenly after the miscarriage column, he's asked her to marry him. Apparently he's pretty much the only guy who's ever performed oral sex on her (her husband never did), which she trumpets loudly and often. She's in her 40's, but fills the need to tell everyone this crap in the guise of a career advisor. She's sad, but gets lots of traffic because she's so horrifyingly gauche and pathetic.

She's also diagnosed herself with Asperger's in the last couple of months so she can write multiple columns about how that's affected her career and why she can't act like a decent, normal person.

She sounds like a keeper!

that's what gets me. Why is she insensitive for being happy that she now doesn't have to finance a medical abortion or go through the pain or inconvenience of it? Because some infertile self-obsessed woman finds it 'mean' that another woman doesn't view a pregnancy the same way she does? By that logic, pregnant women ought not be sharing their joyful news on the off chance that there is some poor woman listening who is crying her eyes out because the stick turned blue and she feels like her life is ruined.

I'll be honest: I do not understand even remotely this obsession some people have with sharing every single detail of their lives and every random thought they have with any and everybody. I don't get the appeal of it and it reeks of silly narcissism to me. I also think it makes her look bad to be Twittering anything while she is in a board meeting. But the content of her Tweets is really irrelevant.

I'm sick of women being shamed and guilted any time we violate some social tabboo that has to do with motherhood or babies. God forbid a woman say she sometimes hates being a mom or that she's glad she had a miscarriage (because all pregnancies are sacred and all wimmins are just ordained by God to melt at the sight of an ultrasound, you know?). People who don't like what she said can get off her feed list and that's that. Apparently she's so awful and screwed up but that doesn't stop people from making time to fit her into their day, does it?

Do people really need to Tweet about anything? No. There is no reason for her to be ashamed of how she feels though.

She's been going through a divorce and earlier bragged about missing her birth control pills just to let everyone know that she found a guy who would screw her, bragged about forgetting to get the cat fixed and making it have an abortion, and bragged about the number of abortions she's already had. Plus she brags whenever she finds some guy to perform oral sex on her. She's bizarre and pitiful. That's why people attack her. She's a sad attention whore.

This lady sounds like a piece of work. Lucky that the kid didn't make it one way or another.

I don't get the big fuss over this. I know a woman who tried to induce a miscarriage when she found out she was pregnant because she couldn't afford an abortion. She lifted everything heavy she could find in the house, even helped some friends of hers move and she also took to climbing trees and jumping from them. No dice, the kid wouldn't budge. I think it's kinda mean to tell her son those stories but he's just laughing them off...

This woman will post anything--and I mean anything--about her personal life in order to generate traffic. She's written on-line pornography, changed her name multiple times, has a "fluffed" resume, posted about how her parents abused her, how she was in a loony bin, details of her bulimia (loved to puke up bagels), etc.

Her latest thing is that she left NYC because she was personally involved in 9/11 somehow, moved to Madison, Wisconsin because she found on the internet she would be happy there, dumped her husband that she found through a dating service even though she has two disabled (autistic) kids because he was a stay-at-home dad and wouldn't have sex with her, pursued multiple very young men, posted about her Brazilian waxing experiences so she could keep said young men (who all dumped her ass), went after a farmer who kept dumping her because she tried to start fights all the time, got pregnant (on purpose, I'll wager), had a miscarriage, got the farmer to propose, and NOW--she's decided she wants to live on the farmer's farm, even though he lives with his parents on it and it apparently belongs to them. She's decided she wants it for herself, and that's all that will do. Fuck the parents--she's decided that having that farm, and that farm ONLY, will fulfill her. And that's what it's all about, right? Fulfilling her.

Her readers buy her latest column hook, line, and sinker and praise her to the heavens for every thought she has--I don't think she keeps people around long enough so they know her history.

Obviously, she does keep some people around (like me) just for the trainwreck aspect. I found out about her when she was a columnist for Yahoo (she was fired). This is the kind of career advice she gave:

Quote:
2. Don't ask for time off, just take it.

When you need to leave work for a few hours or a few days, you don't need to ask for permission -- you're an adult, after all. Make sure your work is in good order and send an email to the relevant people letting them know you'll be gone.

This will seem discourteous to older people, who expect you to ask rather than tell. So be sure to give a reason why you're cutting out. People like to know they matter and where they stand.

Seems like she just has some crazy internet persona and she makes these things up.

She's started a career network for 20-somethings that she thinks is going to revolutionize the internetz and, of course, the world. She's losing money on it now, and was asked to step down as the CEO (she claims so it was so she could spend more time on her blogging and spins it as a positive thing). However, now that she's spending so much time and energy on the notoriety generated by the miscarriage post, the new CEO is wondering how her blog should be associated with the company at all. She's supposed to be writing about career stuff, not her genitals.
