All Barbie dolls have all long hair. I know there's a lot of hair weave wank in the our community, but all little girls want long hair. Black girls' hair takes longer to grow and grows in a completely different way due to its texture.

You're assuming that a black girl who wants long hair will just go get extensions and not just grow her hair longer like a white girl. I wanted long hair like Aaliyah when I was in elementary school, so I took extra care of my hair so it grow longer, not get a weave. (Granted, I wouldn't be able to get one at that age even if I wanted to...but still, lol).

I'm assuming it, because it's true. If most black girls could naturally grow their hair longer than white girls, then weaves, wigs and extensions wouldn't be so big in the black community. There wouldn't be much need for them.

I guess, in a way. Maybe I grew up differently. I nor any of my friends ever wanted weaves (unless dookie braids count  ) we all wanted to grow it naturally so it could look Aaliyah's hairstyle back in '94.

I think there are some differences by region. Most black girls/women I know from the south, naturally, had longer hair, so they didn't need weaves as much. But the one's up north leaned more toward weaves. Usually, but not always, the Caribbean girls opted for the dookie braids.

I was bought a black barbie as a kid in the 80's from Woolworths !
I loved all of my barbies and was upset when my evil sister cut the hair off my chrystal barbie.
Wow! I've just found the dress and shoes that came with chrystal barbie! Wish I could add the image , it's a white dress with a pink band!
