What dumb parents. My child would have been on a leash for sure.

I agree with this 100%. It always makes me feel a little sad when something like this happens and people quickly blame the parents. Every parent makes a mistake here and then, but fortunately most are lucky not to have to live with a horrible tragedy the rest of their lives. Literally takes 2 seconds, like crumpet said. I am grateful every day that none of my 2-second mistakes have resulted in such a horrific event.

Agree with both you guys. I can't imagine losing a child and then having to blame myself for blinking. It's awful for the parents.

NO WAY would I go within a mile of that Skywalk thing (the floor is made of glass BTW eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek) and no way would I allow a child under the age of at least 10 go anywhere near the edge of that mofo. Surely it's obvious that allowing a 4yr old to walk/run around loose is just asking for trouble. Easy to be wise after the event of course but anticipating the danger and taking the necessary precautions, ie using some kind of strap attached to an adult, would have prevented this tragedy. People just don't THINK.

So sad.
She was the second youngest person to die at the park, apparently:
Quote:

The youngest death on record was a one year-old who died along with his five year-old brother in 1958 when the family sedan rolled off an overlook as the adults stood nearby, according to "Over The Edge: Death In Grand Canyon," a comprehensive volume of all known fatalities in the national park.
