Radio commentator Paul Harvey dead at age 90

CHICAGO - Broadcasting pioneer Paul Harvey has died at the age of 90, according to ABC Radio Networks.

Network spokesman Louis Adams says Harvey died Saturday at his winter home in Phoenix, surrounded by family. No cause of death was immediately available.

Harvey was a news commentator and talk-radio pioneer whose staccato style made him one of the nation's most familiar voices.

He was forced off the air in 2001 because a virus weakened a vocal cord. But he returned to work in Chicago and was still active as he passed his 90th birthday.

Known for his resonant voice and trademark delivery of "The Rest of the Story," Harvey had been heard nationally since 1951, when he began his "News and Comment" for ABC Radio Networks.

awwwwwww damn! i listened to Paul Harvey when i was growing up. i figured he wasnt doing well, because there was always a stand in on his show. RIP.

I remember my dad listening to him when I was little. Actually, I thought he had already died.

Awwwww nooooo not Paul Harvey! That's sucks. "And NOW......the REST of the story". Definitely a distinctive voice and he seemed like a really nice man.

Oh no, I hate this.
Me and my mom were coming home after I had my wisdom teeth removed, and we were listening to Paul Harvey.

He said, "He will get 3 million dollars.....page 3."

I turned and looked at mom and said, "Who would want 3 millions dollars worth of pastry?"

I think of that every time I hear his name.

This is so weird. A friend and I were discussing Paul Harvey a few days ago and how he took us back to our childhoods. Good memories.
RIP Paul, you will be missed.
