Re: 8 men found dead
Who exactly is ANYONE? I am 45 years old and have never in my life met a 'religious nut' that bears your description. Now, I have met and continue to hear about a former head of the KKK that lives in my area and he NEVER talks to people about his beliefs religious or nutty. After waiting on him in a restaurant that I worked at for a year or so he asked if my husband and I wanted to maybe work for him in his 'web based company'. I said thanks but no thanks and went on with my business. Our town is smallish and we would all know if he was being abusive, censoring, blackmailing, restricting, etc.
I only bring him up because a person would assume that this man would be the worst offender. He is, don't get me wrong I loathe him, but people like him don't outwardly display their despicable side. Again, I have never met one of your 'religious nuts' Grimmlock. Also, Christians should not be compared to the Mafia, that is quite a stretch, although I bet you could stretch it just fine! Thanks again for the lively debate.

Sounds like the mafia, doesn't it? So yes indeed religious nuts are a gang of thugs. That's not even in debate, it just is. Both groups have a common ancestor.
Now, there are NICE religious people.. the ones who keep their faith to themselves, but will tell you about it if you ask. The ones who are charitable to a fault, pleasant and who have an open mind. The ones who actually adhere to the teachings of their faith and don't twist it into something spiteful and mean. I've met people like this, and they're wonderful because their faith is strong and they are GOOD PEOPLE. Those are not religious nuts. There's a big difference.
So please, line your ducks up. I have some orange basting sauce I'd love to use on them.

The American Family Association is a nice group of these idiots. Look them up, they're all sorts of fun.
Then there's Pat Robertson, but he's old and probably senile.
REAL women of America (hilarious name)
The fundie nutjobs currently in control of the US gov are another nice bunch.
Then there's Fred Phelps, but he's so far off his rocker I don't think he even fits a fundie label anymore.. he's just completely batshit loony tunes.
Basically anyone who uses their faith or belief system as I mentioned above. ANYBODY. CHildren, martians, mormons..

Not you personally, but being the former head of the KKK you want to bet he's done all that I described.

*snicker* I wonder if that web based company sold pointy white hats.

Not in a restaurant anyway. What would be the point? Former head of the KKK pretty much means he's a racist asshole through and through and just because he isn't burning a cross in the restaurant mens room doesn't mean he isn't that hideous outside of that environment, or even this town.

Christians should not be compared to the mafia? If they do all that I described above, then they pretty much ARE a mafia. It's not a stretch at all. The American Family Association is a good example of EVERYTHING I noted.
Also I said religious fundies.. that means ANY religion.

Again, it's the live and let live theory. Your beliefs are right because to you they are true. Others think the same way. And everyone is right. There just seems to be a lot of anger coming from some posters. It is too sad that 8 people had to lose their lives. We don't know them and for anyone to say "good riddance, they were bad people is *fundamentaly* wrong.

Re: 8 men found dead
No, my beliefs are right because:
1) I don't begrudge people of faith their religion, I don't tell them who they should love and how, I don't tell them who they should marry or how to live their lives. I don't try to oppress, harrass, bully, blackmail or otherwise prevent them from practicing their faith, marrying the person they want, or engaging in activities unless those chosen activities have a negative effect on myself. They come after us, not the other way around. We just want our equal rights and to be left alone.
2) Good people in gangs? How interesting. I've never heard of the Happy Fun Lollypop Charity gang before. These people peddle drugs, prostitution, and most notably violence. However, for all we know they were merely walking down the street, not having done anything bad, ever. Perhaps they just joined the gang the other day, and hadn't gotten around to the aforementioned damaging activities. Perhaps they really *were* nice people.
However, nobody joins a gang because they're nice. Nobody stays in a gang becauce they're nice. Gangs exist for 2 reasons: protection and profit. Period. Violence stems from either.

5 people arrested, police say it was an 'internal cleansing' thing within a gang, victims were shot to death. Also they are saying it was a Canadian gang thing with no real connection to the US.

Doesn't the term "internal cleansing" sound like some sort of enema?
I was surprised to find that Bandidos is actually a worldwide organization.

To me you seem hypocritical. You like anyone who agrees with what you believe to be a universal truth. THere is no room in your world for others. They are to be mocked and verbally abused by your superior intellect. I'll keep reading your posts and be entertained.

Re: 8 men found dead
There is no room in MY world for assholes who use their religion as a cloak for bigotry and hatred and oppression. I fail to see how I'm hypocritical.
I'm not the one trying to prevent them from living their lives in peace, I'm not restricting them from anything nor am I trying to censor them from anything. If they left me and my kind alone, there'd be no problem... however they don't. Their "disagreement" with me is my entire existence. Of course I don't fucking like them. Don't be absurd.
So please, point out the hypocrisy. I'll wait.
