Sput...I had no idea you were in Chile! Glad you're safe!

We're all the way in Newport Beach, CA and we're under a tsunami advisory. 12:10 pm local time we may get a small wave.

So is San Diego. I read it's from the Bay Area to San Diego. It's been pouring all day.

I don't see any celebrities starting up a new telethon for Chile. Celebrities only jump onto one charity per year, and Haiti is their bandwagon charity for 2010.

    And stay safe, Sput.

I just read that it's pretty much the whole west coast. We're a mile from the ocean, but can see it from out balcony.

I'm chiming in with King...stay safe Sput!

If you do get one in California, can you all use your collective mental energy to channel the wave all together and up over the coast, landing inland on Coto? Pleeeaaasseeee!!!

Also remember you are in California..so contact the local elected officials..and when the tsunami gets there, have them be sure and slap a tax on it as soon as it arrives-you need the revenue!

cnn is full of shit. or at least partially. i'm watching it live and they're saying santiago is entirely without power and water and that's bullshit. parts of it are but i got power and water back an hour and a half after the quake and internet at the same time. and i'm at a friend's right now and her place is intact and has power too.

Good to hear that. I hope it is more like the California quakes of late-spectacular damage- but mostly in isolated pockets. Bridges and buildings down, freeway damage, but most areas relatively ok. Stay safe.

I wonder what the older areas near the quake epicenter are like? Those would be the worst hit areas wouldn't they?

Sputtie,do not stay alone at night,be with friends at least for some nights, get any thing you need from your flat and camp out with people. It is safer ,plus it makes you feel better.Do not leave valuable things at your place.
Keep batteries with you, extras for mobile and laptop.
And update, dammit, you gimme more gray hairs, girl.

i'm fine, guys. really. right now a bunch of us are hanging out at some friends', and we just picked up another couple of friends whose ceiling collapsed - luckily they were able to make it to a door frame before chunks of plaster started falling, followed by beams.
we're having post-quake fajitas and beer

Sput, I know you're not one for prayers but I'll still say some for you and your neighbors tonight. Glad you're safe.

Largest earthquake in history - Magnitude 9.5 near Chile, May 22, 1960

fuck, Chile is a scary place! i had no idea, although im well aware of the Ring of Fire growing up in oregon and now living in l.a.

so glad sputty sput is ok so glad! and you're right, CNN is stupid, none of the news has anything completely right. Rick Sanchez is the biggest douche ever though! newscasters are dumbasses.

anyways im glad i moved inland, i used to be less than 2 miles from the ocean on the 2nd floor but now im further inland a couple more miles and still 2nd floor
