School sacks teacher for strutting around on fishing boats as a "bikini hostess"

A teacher thrown out of her teaching job claims it is because she also works as a "bikini hostess" on fishing trips.

Tiffany Shepherd, a biology teacher at Florida's Port St. Lucie High School, has learned she will not be asked to return when school starts next year, nor will she finish this school year.

The 30-year-old blonde from Fort Pierce – who has a pre-medical degree - performs the usual duties of a ship's mate, but wears a bikini and fetches drinks and sandwiches for the men on board.
She took the job three weeks ago to help support her three young sons following a divorce.
"I can make $600 [£300] in two days' fishing," she said. "That's a week's pay for me."
Smokin' Em Charters, a Port St. Lucie-based company, has pictures of some of the bikini mates on its website - many of them partially nude - and says the only job requirement is to look "hot in a bikini".
Ms Shepherd, who said she does not go topless on the fishing boat, said she doesn't believe the job is inappropriate or at odds with her role as a teacher to high school students.
"You don't wear jeans or slacks to go fishing," she said. "I wasn't doing anything wrong."

But they insist Ms Shepherd's boat job is nothing to do with their decision to let her go – and that she has missed more than 30 days of school this year.
"She just doesn't come to work," said Susan Ranew, assistant human resources chief for the district. "We did not know about her second job until after she received her notice of non-renewal."
Ms Shepherd, who said she thinks she missed about 20 days this year, claimed another teacher at Port St. Lucie High had missed three quarters of a year for a stomach ulcer but was reappointed the following year. Her absences, she said, are "not the reason they let me go now. It's Smokin' Em Charters."

not really understanding this woman's logic. she can miss 20-30 days b/c her coworker missed more?? and clearly the coworker had a legit medical excuse and that is the reason she still has her job....

If the other teacher still has a job when she missed more days, then so should she, assuming it really was a stomach ulcer that kept her away from teaching. It's not like she's a prostitute, so I don't see how this is negatively affecting her teaching skills or the students in any way.

I was thinking the same thing. I can't believe she's thirty either. She looks older.

I love how she knows the other teacher missed all that time for a stomach ulcer, but neglects to mention why she missed all that time. Methinks she called in sick after date night.

i was ready to defend her until i got to the part about her missing 30 days of work. that is a LOT. i took 5 sick days this year and only because i caught a virus and was in bed with a fever, puking my guts out for over a week.
and she doesn't offer any kind of explanation for her absences. the other teacher that missed lots of days sounds like she had a legitimate medical reason. what's this bimbo's excuse? she was probably hung over from a night of bikini fishing.

30 Days! Don't teachers get Summer, Christmas, Spring Break, and all the other holidays off as well?

You just do not understand how important it is to fisherman to have someone fetch their drinks and food.....you need to keep that focus and concentration on the fish.....

Teachers are role models like it or not. This woman is disgraceful. Isn't it always "I'm a single mom" the line women cry when they decide to make their extra money by prancing around semi-nude for cash. Her teaching career obviously wasn't as important to her as her (and I'm surmising here) addiction to male attention.

She screams desperation in her choosing to prance for men in a state of undress. The fact that she has children just makes it even nastier.

A gal in her 20's pre-kids still somewhat immature flexing her individuality I could forgive, but come on get some self respect.

And here I was gonna say she actually looked damned good for a 30 year broad who'd had three kids. I agree, her face isn't as hot as her body, but c'mon....even in the face I can totally buy that she's 30. I guess I've just seen younger that look way older.
