That's sad...ouch she was 20lbs away from 1000...
Renee Williams became the largest person ever to have gastric bypass surgery earlier this year after ballooning to nearly seventy stone – but died 12 days later.
The bedridden 29-year-old begged doctors to perform the operation when she became so large that she couldn't hug her two children.
Her astonishing size meant that the operating table had to be specially widened for the procedure. Scroll down for more...
Larger than life: Renee Williams weight balloned from 40 to 70 stone after a car crash
The operation was successful and Renee lost four stone due to her reduced stomach capacity before dying of a sudden heart attack less than two weeks later. Her story is told in a Channel 4 programme next week.
Renee, from Austin, Texas, had battled with her weight since childhood and was classified as super-morbidly obese at the age of 12.
She was married by the age of 15 and had her first child, Mirina, at 16 weighing 30 stone.
Renee had grown to a massive 35 stone by the time she had her second daughter Mariah.
Tragic: Renee died days after the surgery
"When you don't have that thing in your head that tells you you're full, it's disgusting the amount of food you can eat," She said.
In 2003, she was hit by a drunken driver in an accident that left her unable to walk because her leg was crushed.
She became bedridden and began eating even more.
"She wouldn't stop eating until her stomach started to hurt," says 13-year-old Mirina.
"She would get about eight burgers and eat them all. I kept telling her she was eating her emotions. I think she was sick and tired of being in that bed."
Renee piled on more and more weight and by 2007 she was nearing 70 stone - six times the size of a healthy woman in her age group.
She begged doctors to perform gastric bypass surgery on her and was turned down by 12 who insisted that the operation was too dangerous for a woman of her size.
"I understand the risks but I am not going to make it if I don't have the surgery," Renee said at the time.
"I want to be able to care for my daughters and see them graduate high school."
Gastric bypass surgery makes the stomach smaller and allows food to bypass part of the small intestine. Patients feel full sooner, consume fewer calories and lose weight.
Houston's Renaissance hospital finally agreed to perform the surgery after Renee's condition deteriorated and she was given just a year to live by doctors.
The operation on February 20th took five hours as surgeons had to cut through masses of fat to secure the band.
"I feel like I've been run over by a truck," she said afterwards.
Renee began to lose weight immediately but suffered a sudden heart attack on March 4th which took her life.
"I wanted to sit down in a corner and die." Says a distraught Mirina. "Mom was my best friend and now she has gone it hurts."'

Omg, 70 stones, for you americans, is 980 lbs!
That's sad...ouch she was 20lbs away from 1000...
I Bleed Purple-Baltimore and Proud!
You think that when she hit 400lbs (or sooner) she would have considered doing something about her weight and inevidably her health.
Sorry - no sympathy for this one, she's had a problem her entire life and in 20+ years you should have been able to find a way to be at a weight that would not jeopardize your life. You don't have to be skinny mini but there is not excuse to be that large. Can't get out of bed - I feel for her there but don't have people feed you until you can't stuff another pound of food down your throat.

She was clearly self-destructive, and didn't want to stop eating even for her kids' sake. Surgery was not the best alternative -- she hadn't changed her eating habits one iota. That said, it's hard not to have some sympathy for her and especially, her children.
Very sad.
It's easy to ask, because I've never been in that situation, but if you cared for someone, and they were that morbidly obese, why would you continue to get her so much food? Obviously she wasn't able to get it herself, it had to be brought to her.
Its sad, but i have no sympathy. You don't get that fat overnight, you see it happening, and you do something about it. Food doesn't find its own way into your mouth.
It's probably a co-dependent type of situation.
Tragic? Yes, for her children.
You don't balloon to 70 stones purely from having a car crash. She didn't take control of her life, she ate... and ate... and ate. Evidently.Larger than life: Renee Williams weight balloned from 40 to 70 stone after a car crash
Whats tragic is that her children are now without a mother because of her selfish weight problem.
No sympathy from me.

Well she has sympathy from me. She obviously had a serious disorder..probably both mental and physical. And it is not exactly like she was hurting anyone else but herself. I just cannot believe that there is not a physical or biological component causing someone to get that big. I do not buy that it is only 'lack of control' or emotional compulsion' or something like that. And I bet one day the medical science will uncover whatever that 'physical' component is. So she, and the family she leaves behind, have my sympathy.
Unfortunately most of these hugely obese people are surrounded by enablers. If you physically cannot get out of bed then someone must be supplying the VAST quantities of junkfood these people consume. I don't think bypass surgery is the answer because it doesn't teach the healthy eating habits required to control your weight. Why not simply limit the amount of food to what most of us would consider to be 'normal', ignore the whining and pleading, and the weight should drop off anyway.

I bet when she farted it would seep out for weeks.
I am from the American CIA and I have a radio in my head. I am going to kill you.

Well she was 30 stones- 420 pounds- by the time she was 16....you have to wonder how someone can gain so much weight so quickly, Surely it can't just be overeating, maybe something inherent? I don't know.
If you have a tendency to gain weight very easily (tell me about it) then it's perfectly possible to get that huge by overeating. And I bet she wasn't overeating salads, fresh fruit and plain grilled chicken either. I'd be more angry with the morons who were giving her this food. It's almost like some sick sado-masochistic thing. The fatty masochist makes herself suffer by piling on the weight and feeling miserable about herself, while her sadist enablers provide the food and enjoy watching her suffer.

Sadly I think this says all you need to know about the 'upbringing' and kinf of people she had around when growing up. They should have had her in treatments or counseling or whatever..but I somehow doubt that is what happened with her.
*hell if she was that much into overeating it should have been easy to slip her the 'magic milkshake'..no need for marriage and a damn baby! lol
