Woman who beat son to death still wants alimony

Here's the link but the story basically is this. A mother of 3 children beat the oldest to death and is in JAIL for it. She is saying that when releasted, she wants her 4 grand a month alimony reinstated.

I don't think she will get it. I was watching this story on CNN last night and some politician is putting this issue on the state senate's emergency list.

What on earth makes her think that even IF she gets out, she'll be allowed to see her other kids unsupervized, let alone get to keep them?

That's how you collect alimony right, by having the kids full time?

Apparently its already suspended while she is incarcerated, seeing as how jailed folks are deemed to not have living expenses, which is what alimony is for. She was filing to have it reinstated once she is released.

I think alimony should be banned all together. Get your ass up and support yourself. Quit being a waste of space.

^^Easier said than done, especially when you realize that alot of women, when divorced, are worse off financially than the man, yet have much of the child-rearing responsibility and thus all the extra costs that go with that. Also, many women can't afford childcare, even with a full time job, because either their pay sucks and/or the child care (if they can find decent childcare) is prohibitively expensive. Also, many women stay home when kids are small to care for them and have thus been out of the loop, career-wise, for quite awhile. Then there is teh fact that holiday time is pretty shabby in America and it's pretty hard to get entire summers plus school holidays and sick kid days from an employer.

I say move to Sweden: you won't get alimony but you will be able to be self-sufficient.
