Prostitute stabs customer who refuses to wear condom

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia - A Cambodian man has been stabbed by a sex worker in a brawl, after he refused her request to wear a condom, police said Friday. Suon Da, 25, was knifed twice in the abdominal area by Sa Rida, a 24-year-old sex worker, during the fight at a brothel in Battambang province Wednesday, said Koam Roeuy, a deputy police chief from the area.

Koam Roeuy said Suon Da had paid Sa Rida $1.20 to have sex with her. But after Suon Da repeatedly refused to wear a condom, Sa Rida gave up and left the room.

Suon Da chased after her, demanding his money back and slapping the woman, Koam Roeuy said. Sa Rida responded by stabbing Suon Da in the stomach, he said.

"The woman was trying to prevent the transmission of diseases such as HIV," Koam Roeuy said. "But now it will be up to the court to decide her fate after she inflicted injuries on another person."

Sa Rida remains in police custody pending possible charges against her. Suon Da is being treated at a hospital in Battambang province, about 155 miles northwest of the capital Phnom Penh.

Cambodia has an HIV infection rate of 1.9 percent for people aged 15-49, among the highest in Southeast Asia.

Comprehensive education campaigns, including widespread condom use in brothels, has helped reduce the infection rate from 3 percent in 1997, according to the Cambodian government.

You're right, I realized right after I posted that I had read it wrong. I thought he was trying to stop her leaving so that they could have sex, so figured she was defending herself against a death sentence (Aids).

Yeah, but why should she have given him a refund? She was willing to provide the services he paid for. Besides, he was 'chasing' her. Self defense.

This may come as a shock but not everybody has the opportunity in the Third World to earn a living doing exactly what they want. Poverty is very real -- and poverty there is NOTHING compared to what it is in North America -- and often these girls are sold by their parents, or take jobs they think are legit, only to end up in brothels. And it's not like they can stroll out any time they want.

The fact that this woman is insisting on protection is rare enough given her low status in her culture. I don't think she needs our judgement on top of that. I applaud her bravery, although I wished she hadn't stabbed the jerk even if he did deserve it.

She had left the room, not willing to have sex.

He wanted his money back, indicating he had accepted that there was no sex going to happen.

So the HIV risk argument is negated. Both parties indicate that the service was not going to happen.

She should have refunded his buck fifty and left. He did not get the service he wanted.

It's like going to a coffee shop, givng them a buck fifty (amazing what it'll buy depending on where you go) and saying you want coffee made from beans that grow on pluto. When they say they don't have that, why would they keep your money? You didn't get any coffee.

So she's half right. She refused service cuz he wouldnt wear a condom (right) but then didnt give him back his cash for services not rendered (wrong)

She was trying to have her cake and eat it too.. I'd be pissed if i was that guy, I'd want my buck fifty back so I could go rent another coffee-priced whore!

You guys...she should have given the money back, but at that point, neither one of them were thinking very clearly. Cut the girl some slack -- he had already been violent with her. Sounds like an ugly situation that got out of hand. Given Indonesia's harsh laws and treatment of women, I doubt she's going to get off scot-free.

Uh no, he got violent with her after she tried to walk with his whore money.

After they had mutually worked out that he wasn't gonna get any action, she shoulda just tossed the money back at him and left.

She didn't, she kept his money and tried to beat it.
