Social worker found dead-child missing-amber alert issued-UPDATED, couple arrested
HENDERSON, Ky. - Police found a social worker dead in a western Kentucky home and issued an Amber Alert for the 10-month-old boy the woman had taken to the house for a visit with his mother, authorities said.
The child’s mother, Renee Terrell, 33, of Henderson, did not have custody of her developmentally disabled son, police said. She and her boyfriend, Christopher Wayne Luttrell, 23, were both missing and were believed to have the child.
Henderson police were called Monday when the social worker didn’t return to work after taking the baby for a visit with the mother, Sgt. John Nevels told The Gleaner newspaper of Henderson.
The social worker was identified as Boni Frederick, 67, of Morganfield, who worked for the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services.
Nevels declined to comment on the cause of Frederick’s death but said “it was a violent attack.” An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.
Just saw an update on Court tv-they were spotted in Illinois at a gas station and said to consider them dangerous.

I live in Kentucky, & we have had huge Amber Alerts all over our network TV for the last few days. Scary knowing this is happening so close to home.

So the Social worker brought the kid to visit his mother and was killed in the mothers house?? And now the mother, father and kid are all missing....
Hmmmm...gonna go WAY out on a limb here and say that the parents probably had something to do with the killing....
That sucks though. Chick was just doing her job.

Apparently the state had taken away the baby and the social worker was bringing her for a supervised visit and they killed her and took off with the baby.
She is 33 and the boyfreind is 23. From the pics, they don't look like they have a whole brain between them...

I wonder if the couple has any substance abuse issues. Prescription drugs & meth are huge in rural areas of Kentucky, & it would make sense that the child be in protective services if this is the case.
Poor kid.

From the things we have read on here, it would have to be something pretty serious for them to actually take the baby out of the home.
I don't think they would hurt the kid, but who knows what could happen running from law enforcement. I hope this has a happy ending.

Why, WHY did you have to say that, Elise? I'm going to have nightmares for months. But if you see pictures, you'll notice it's a real Jack Sprat situation.
**edit: CBS has raw footage on their website of the parents pulling up to a gas station in the victim's car. Guess who was driving. Hint: it wasn't Jack Sprat.

They killed this social worker & ran off in her car? Are you kidding me?
This hits a little close to home, and bothers me.

They've been spotted buying gas with her card and in her car. The poor kid.

For a veteran social worker, it was a routine assignment: reunite an infant with his mother for what could be a final visit before the child is put up for adoption.
Terrell has a history of child abuse, including charges of assault and endangering the welfare of a minor, police said. Saige was taken from her just 13 days after his birth because of neglect, they said. A judge was poised to strip her of parental rights, police said.
************************************************** ********
It is sad that someone wouldn't feel love for a 13 day old baby and would have so little regard for human life that they would hurt a baby-any child for that matter
************************************************** ********
If they feel threatened or vulnerable, they are empowered to request additional reinforcements," said Mark Birdwhistell, secretary of the state Cabinet for Health and Family Services.
Many social workers don't call for police escorts because they know officers aren't available, said Sgt. John Nevels, spokesman for the Henderson Police Department.
"We never go on court-ordered visitations. There's so many of those, I don't know if we have enough police," he said.
By bringing the Terrell baby to his mother's home, Frederick deviated from the typical visitation arrangement, said Sky Tanghe, a social worker in Louisville. Generally, visits are conducted at a social worker's office or a third-party site, she said.
************************************************** ****************************
Apparently the social worker didn't follow procedure, but that doesn't mean the lady deserved to have her head bashed in by these 2 idiots. Surely they aren't going to try and blame this poor dead woman.
Perhaps that comment is one reason why she didn't call them to accompany her. I have a feeling she was trying to be nice to these fuckwits and let them spend some time with the baby that they abused and neglected and the reward she got was being killed...

She was probably just trying to do the right thing, although bringing the baby to see the mother a week after the mother is told said baby will go up for adoption wasn't the most sensitive thing to do.
