JonBenet Ramsey hoaxer walks free

Another magnificent effort by the American 'justice' system. Sheesh.

A judge in California dismissed child pornography charges today against one-time JonBenet Ramsey murder suspect John Mark Karr after prosecutors said they did not have enough evidence to take the case to trial.

Judge Rene Chouteau ordered Karr released immediately, bringing an end to his two-month odyssey in the US criminal justice system after he was extradited from Thailand on suspicion of killing JonBenet.

Karr, 41, was returned to Sonoma last month to face the five-year-old case after DNA evidence cleared him of killing the former child beauty queen in her Boulder, Colorado, home in 1996.

The Sonoma case fell apart almost as quickly, as investigators admitted losing vital computer evidence that was seized from Karr in April 2001 when he was working as a substitute teacher in Sonoma and Napa counties.
Defence lawyers tried twice unsuccessfully to get the charges dismissed and were seeking to have evidence barred from trial when prosecutors gave up.

"The impression that we've had all along is that the prosecution had every intention of getting this case to trial, regardless of the evidence," said defence lawyer Robert Amparan.

"I am pleasantly surprised by them having done the right thing."

The JonBenet episode was clearly a hoax from the outset. But he didn't walk free because he isn't a pedophile, he walked free because of bureaucratic incompetence. How much do you want to bet he goes straight back to Thailand aka Pedophile Paradise.

It also shows incompetence on the part of the authorities who went public in a big way before they had their facts straight as A*O said, but also that the publicity machine spun this into way more than it actually was.

Indeed, a pure f**k up from all sides. I guess in the end it worked out great for our hoaxer, a free flight, great meals, and freedom instead of rotting in a thai jail. He took that chance and it worked out for him. Suuuuper.

I don't think he'll go back to Thailand; didn't he pull this sh@t to get
extradited from Thailand in the first place? He didn't want to
disappear into the Thai justice system, so he made up the story about
JonBenet.

Personally I blame it all on President George Bush. While the JonBenet-Faker episode was splashed all over the news we heard very little about torture of Iraqi prisoners, dead soldiers, erosion of rights, high oil prices, pick any topic the administration might now want blasted all over the front pages.

(I'll go sit in the corner with my tin foil hat quietly now...)

Actually, I think you are absolutely right. Maybe he'll try Cambodia this time where they take a very 'liberal' approach to pedo-tourism.

Exactly what I thought right from the start as did a lot of people I am sure. Unfortunately the authorities still have to check these kind of bullshit claims out.

Just looking at this guy gives me the creeps. What a sick f*ck.
