Ohio Makes It Possible For Anyone To Be A Sex Offender
That means anyone, even Sojiita or several other former GR members can be registered sex offenders if this legislation is signed into law..
Quote:
Plan gains to publicly identify accused
Ohio panel backs registry proposal
BLADE COLUMBUS BUREAU
COLUMBUS - An Ohio legislative panel yesterday rubber-stamped an unprecedented process that would allow sex offenders to be publicly identified and tracked even if they've never been charged with a crime.
No one in attendance voiced opposition to rules submitted by Attorney General Jim Petro's office to the Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review, consisting of members of the Ohio House and Senate.
The committee's decision not to interfere with the rules puts Ohio in a position to become the first state to test a "civil registry."
The concept was offered by Roman Catholic bishops as an alternative to opening a one-time window for the filing of civil lawsuits alleging child sexual abuse that occurred as long as 35 years ago.
A recently enacted law allows county prosecutors, the state attorney general, or, as a last resort, alleged victims to ask judges to civilly declare someone to be a sex offender even when there has been no criminal verdict or successful lawsuit.
The rules spell out how the untried process would work. It would largely treat a person placed on the civil registry the same way a convicted sex offender is treated under Ohio's so-called Megan's Law.
The person's name, address, and photograph would be placed on a new Internet database and the person would be subjected to the same registration and community notification requirements and restrictions on where he could live.
A civilly declared offender, however, could petition the court to have the person's name removed from the new list after six years if there have been no new problems and the judge believes the person is unlikely to abuse again.
The attorney general's office said it continues to hold discussions with a group representing day care operators about one of the rules pertaining to what such facilities would do with information they might receive pertaining to someone on the registry if that person is living nearby.

WTF? What exactly is their criteria for a sex offender? This scares me, especially if it comes down to a he said, she said scenario, or the like!

Ok..let them even TRY to put me on that retarded list and I will take this to the fucking Supreme Court and sue the ass off of everyone in sight. I know this place seems to be crawling with peds and perverts lately but this shit is ridiculous-although the Toledo Blade is notoriously the most fucked-up newsrag in this state so I will need futher sources of confirmation for this story. I(along with many others) busted the Blade for some shitty story they had a few weeks ago(this was on another site). The retard-Blade had to publish a retraction later cause of the number of complaints.
If this news is true as it reads then yes, Ohio is the most fucked-up asshat state in the US..and is even unworthy of the spit of West Virginia.
*if this is true..then someone please turn my name in so I can sue..I really need the money!~ !*

Neighbor's son is a registered sex offender. Great kid. He met and dated a real bitch who accused him of rape. It was an election year, everybody was tough on crime and he was prosecuted to the nth degree of the law. She later admitted that it was consensual sex and that she lied.
Guess what? He is still a registered sex offender. Didn't do squat and can't afford to get his record cleared. Can't get well paying job or afford an attorney.
Progress.

What?? He should be able to sue her for the money to get his record cleared!
I've heard of normal (as in non rapist non pedophile) people getting on the sex offender lists for all kinds of kooky stuff, and personally knew a guy who got busted for consensual sex act (i.e. with another adult) in a public place and now he's on the same list with the pedos and other rapists with such vague 'description' that you wouldn't know that he wasn't one of them! I've checked out the MS list and every once in awhile you'll see a description of a crime/offense that you can tell was actually heinous, but for the most part all these descriptions are very vague. Or all encompassing.

That's what is scary about this new proposed Ohio law is that people can be put on it for the most ridiculous things and not because they've been through criminal court with an actual sex crime conviction.

Kid has no money for lawsuit. Friend of mine is a prosecutor for the county. He wasn't involved in the case but said it was a witch hunt. Boy was 18 at the time and his girlfriend had not turned 18. He also served time in prison.
His family has been selling property to raise funds to get his name cleared. I just checked the state registry again and don't see his name listed. Which is great news. I hope it is all resolved.

This stuff really bothers me because in a lot of stupid ignorant people's minds..homosexual is just one step away from pedophile/sex offender. It was not that long ago that simply being gay or having consensual sexual relations with an adult of the same sex WAS considered a sex crime. Shit here I can be charged with importuning for just hitting on a guy...while a woman could do the same thing and it would NOT be importuning. The laws regarding these things are really fucked up. A Guy can get arrested just for hitting on another guy, while a woman would have to request payment for services rendered/to be rendered to be considered to have comitted a crime.
*actually I believe the Ohio state law was repealed a few years ago..but I think city ordinances may still apply(with importuning)*

Sojiita consider this scary fact, not all that long ago homosexuality was listed in the DSM as a genuine mental illness. Frightening to think that previlent thought at that time lumped gays in with bipolarism and schizos.
