More retard news from Oregon: teen jailed for making 22 calls to 911

NEWPORT, Ore. (AP) - A Newport teenager is in custody after being accused of making nearly two dozen crank calls to 911 dispatchers in Lincoln County.
Authorities say the calls were received within a 30-minute time period.

Operators say the calls were made by a male using his cell phone. They say he was making rude comments about the police.

Newport teen jailed for making 22 calls to 911

Dispatchers summoned the police and Sergeant Jason Malloy of the Newport Police Department advised the caller that what he was doing was illegal.

The caller then challenged two Newport police officers to find him and they did.

Police recognized the voice as belonging to a man they had been in contact with earlier in their shift.

Cody Prescott Smith, 19, was taken into custody four minutes after making what would prove to be his last call.

Smith has been charged with 22 counts of improper use of 911.

OK, he's 19 so it's a bit old to think that prank calling 911 is a laugh. On the other hand, although I know that keeping those 911 lines open for emergencies is important, I hope all the kid gets is a very large stupidity award and some serious community service. I mean, this isn't the crime of the century.

could very well be the crime of the century if someone croaks because some dipstick was tieing up the lines for no good reason but to prove himself an immature a-hole

It is actually. Alice has an apparent beef with Oregon which is tiresome. For someone who doesn't like the state, she spends an awful lot of time searching the news here.

Born in Springfield. It really is a beautiful place. My parents live in
Central Oregon now, but I only lived there as a baby. You are not allowed to pump your own gas there. Is that still true?

yeah cause i was raised there and got the hell out; thnx gawd! its beautiful and bla bla bla, but the ppl are seriously f-ed up; meth-heads galore and everyone I went to school w/ there, well nevermind, i don't need to offend anymore...

Admittedly it is stupid we can't pump our own gas. I get pissed off about it when I get some lackadaisical in-bred whose only career ambition is to pump gas telling me that I can't do it because "it's the law". The stupidist excuses I ever heard in favor of it is "well, we don't want our hands smelling like gas" or "It gives people jobs". Please....
Oh, and this no sales tax thing does suck because it makes my state and property taxes much higher.

I guess the reason I like it is the people are still pretty laid back. Lots of artsy type folks, and up until the last few years people were actually nice all the time. Now we have a huge influx of Californians coming up because relatively the prices are still cheap, and with that brings all the things that I don't like about California (except the sun).
So, don't worry Alice, sooner or later I'm sure California and Oregon will be one huge state.
