CONCORD, N.H. -- When a New Hampshire woman disappeared 35 years ago, her family assumed she and her boyfriend left town to avoid money troubles. But on Tuesday, authorities said they consider her a missing person and have begun a criminal investigation based on new information.
The state attorney general’s office said Denise Beaudin’s family last saw her on Thanksgiving 1981, when she was 23, with her boyfriend, Robert “Bob” Evans, and her infant daughter. When relatives went to visit her Manchester home a few days later, the couple and baby were gone. The family did not contact police at the time, said Jeffery Strelzin, senior assistant attorney general and chief of the homicide unit.
“It was a different time, you had no cellphones, no social media, so it was different,” he said.
Investigators have been in touch with Beaudin’s daughter, Strelzin said.
“We know where she is, we’ve identified her, she’s alive and well,” he said of the daughter. “She doesn’t want her identity released at this time, but she’s OK.”
Evans, who was 37 at the time, is now 72, and authorities know where he is, Strelzin said. He declined to provide more information about Evans, or what led authorities to begin investigating. Beaudin’s name has been added to the National Crime Information Center’s missing persons database, which includes records of people missing under circumstances indicating they may be in physical danger or their disappearance may not have been voluntary.
Strelzin said authorities will provide more details in a few weeks, but they wanted to get the word out this week, when those who knew Beaudin might be back in the area for the holidays.
Police want to hear from anyone who knew Beaudin or Evans between 1976 and 1981, including her high school classmates or neighbors in the area around Hayward Street in Manchester.
Beaudin graduated from Goffstown High School in 1976 and later worked at General Cable and the Demers Nursing Home in Manchester.

Interesting. Your 23 y/o daughter up and disappears with her infant child. At some point the child is found but the daughter isn't and no one says a thing?

Weird. Obviously there is much more to this story.

I got stuck at Bob Evans, because I am super immature.

Barring that...I don't know, my parents weren't helicopter parents, but if my 23-year-old ass went missing, they'd have been causing a ruckus, even in 1981. Yes, I know things were supposedly different then, but it doesn't mean you wouldn't be sick with worry. I get disappearing over financial problems, but she was 23, how much did she owe creditors? Disappearing yourself for that long is stuff people do when they're evading Colombian drug dealers or student loan officers.

Too many missing pieces at this point to even speculate...the daughter was an infant, does she remember her mother? Who raised her? What info recently came to light to make authorities declare the mom "missing"?

This case reminds me of the Michael Giles case out of Texas. He disappeared after buying a house that he was so proud of and his family didn't really question anything until his house went into foreclosure a year later. Family members had received an email saying that he was moving to New Mexico and a few text messages. A woman he knew had killed him, buried him in the backyard and sold everything in his house. She put her name on his bank accounts and withdrew his military pension each month. She had her boyfriend wrap his face in bandages and pose as Giles to get that done.

She rented his house out and collected the rent. The renter was told to not dig in the backyard. After she was arrested and out on bond, she hired a teenager to confess to the murder. The clueless girl thought that she was investigating the prosecutor's office. No one believed the girl.

WOW. That is some high level narcissism. And very, very sad.

If someone expressly told me not to dig in the back yard...guess what?

If you read the story at the link, she forged a letter to the department of corrections from her presiding judge that said that her sentence should be reduced to 8 years. She was close to being released.

35 years later, authorities call Manchester woman’s disappearance suspicious

Denise Beaudin has not been seen nor heard from since 1981, but she was just reported missing a few weeks ago. Beaudin, her boyfriend, Robert "Bob" Evans, and her baby daughter lived in a home at 925 Hawyard St., which was the focus of Tuesday's search.

A swarm of FBI agents streamed in and out of the home while a green tent was set up in the back of the house. The sound of sawing filled the neighborhood

"I don't really know anything about the case, because I was just a youngster when it all happened," neighbor Anne Cayford said.

Investigators said that when Beaudin's parents went to the house to visit her the week after Thanksgiving in 1981, they found the home empty.

"The home has never been searched by law enforcement, so this is our first time in there," Senior Assistant Attorney General Jeff Strelzin said.

Beaudin's daughter is in her 30s now and living in California with children of her own. Investigators said they have spoken with her, and she would like to remain anonymous.

Beaudin's father is in his 80s now and still lives in the area. Her mother and brother are deceased.

Investigators said they know where Beaudin's boyfriend is, but they declined to elaborate.

"We hope to be in a position in a week or two to be able to release a lot more details about this case," Strelzin said.

Sources said the case is full of twists and turns and could involve another mystery in New Hampshire.

Authorities have asked that anyone who knew Beaudin or Evans from 1976 to 1981, including anyone who worked with her -- at General Cable on McGregor Street and The Demers Nursing Home on Hackett Hill Road -- or were members of the Goffstown High School class of 1976, to contact Manchester police at 603-668-8711, Manchester Detective Sgt. McCabe at 603-792-5505, or anonymously via the Manchester Police Crimeline at

Yeah I'm pretty stuck on the just now reported missing thing. Makes zero sense with the few things they are releasing.
I am going to come and burn the fucking house down... but you will blow me first."
