A Gainesville, Florida police officer is receiving kudos from all over the country for handling a noise complaint in a unique way - he played basketball with the noisy 'offenders.'
When cops got a call that kids were making a racket shooting hoops, Officer Bobby White was sent to check out the scene on January 15.
What he found were some teens innocently playing ball in the street at 5pm.

Instead of scolding him, the officer tells him that he doesn't have a problem with them playing ball outside

Dashcam video footage catches the officer as he approaches one player - who looks somewhat wary that a man in blue is walking over to him - but instead of chastising him, the officer says, 'We got a call about some kids playing basketball in the street - can you believe it?'
'Obviously, I ain't got no problem with it,' the cop reassures the teen.
Then the scene takes another turn - the officer grabs the ball and begins making shots - even getting a basket from fairly far away.
Soon, other kids - looking shocked that a cop is shooting hoops - come to join.
'Oh no, now you've brought back-up,' the officer jokes.

At the end, he tells them he's glad they're playing ball and not getting into trouble, but asks them not to be too loud

Within moments, five kids have joined the impromptu game.
'Glad to see y’all doing this than out there causing problems,' the cop says, before making the point that it's fine for them to play, but they should try not to get 'too loud.'
He then says he has to get back to work, but asks them if they play there every day.
'Okay, I’m going to try to bring some back-up out here tomorrow and we’ll get a game going,' he says.
The Gainesville Police Department, seeing an opportunity to change hearts and minds, posted the video to its Facebook wall, where it has since received over 100,000 shares and over four million views.

The Gainesville Police Department was so proud of the office that it made the dashcam vid into a PSA, warning people not to make emergency calls about 'kids being kids'

Who calls the police because kids are outside playing? Who? I don't get it. Let's haul them to jail for having healthy fun. Some people are assholes. Damn.
