Worst kid of the year award: Daughter sues parents for fall on icy driveway

Carriel Louah, 25, visited Darlington, Wis., to surprise her mother on her birthday in January 2005. But the next morning, she was injured when she slipped and fell on her parents' driveway. She filed suit against her parents earlier this year.

The daughter said that a letter from her mom apologizing months after the fall proves that her parents knew they had a defective gutter for years and did nothing about it.
She's seeking more than $75,000 in damages for medical bills and lost wages.
Her parents said that she can't prove the driveway was icy at the time or that their drainage system was faulty.
U.S. District Judge John Shabaz said that a jury should decide the matter

Talk about being written out of the will. The lawsuit craziness has now officially reached its zenith. This is the stupidist thing, bar none, that I have read in a very, very long time. What an absolute twat.

I've seen kids sue their parents after car accidents when I was working in auto insurance. Unfortunately, more common than you'd think. Sad all the same...

what the fuck is wrong with these kinds of families where they want to ruin each other's lives? i thought it was all about supporting each other and making sacrifices. yeeesh. the last place i want to get my money is from my parents.

YOu are so right, SVZ, Integrity and doing the right thing seem to have gone the way of the dodo bird. It's pathetic what people will do. On the other hand, it just struck me that maybe the whole family is in on the scam. The parents act outraged while the daughter pushes the case through and in the end they all split the insurance payout. As pathetic as that sounds, in today's climate I would not be surprised if this was what was going down.

I remeber that as a kid I more than once fell down the stairs because I climbed them down too quickly. I should sue my parents for having goddamn stairs in their house to begin with!!!

This is exactly what I thought-she is really not going after the parents; she is going after the company who carries their homeowners insurance. Bitch!

sounds like a clever way to get money out of your parents. I have a friend whose father is mega-wealthy but is as tight as a fishes eyelid. I might have to suggest it to her...
