    Default Rescued dog attacks journalist

There's only a video that can't be embedded. One of our morning journalists was attacked by a mastiff during the newscast. It appears to be completely unprovoked, but they refuse to show the actual attack.

Apparently the video of the attack is floating around the internet, but I haven't found a copy yet.

KUSA Anchor Attacked by Rescued Dog During Morning Newscast

The heartwarming story of a local dog rescued from an icy pond on Tuesday took a turn for the worse this morning as the dog reportedly attacked KUSA morning anchor Kyle Dyer during the station’s 7 a.m. newscast.

Max, an 85-pound Argentine Mastiff, fell through the ice on a pond near his home Tuesday evening and spent roughly 20 minutes stranded in the freezing water before firefighters made a dramatic rescue, which was caught on tape by KUSA’s news helicopter.

After teasing Max’s visit to the KUSA studio throughout the morning, the station had him on during its 7 a.m. show, which airs on KTVD. While Max was meeting the KUSA morning team, he bit Dyer on the face (video inside).

On its Facebook page this morning, KUSA reported that Dyer was “getting medical attention due to the injury.”

“As soon as we know the extent of Kyle’s injury,” KUSA wrote, “we will update you on her condition.”

Luckily, the dog was appearing on-air with the firefighter who rescued him so their was a trained emergency medical worker on-hand.

“So you may have seen Kyle get bit by the dog in the 7 a.m. hour,” Dyer’s co-anchor Gary Shapiro posted on his Facebook page. “All we know for sure is that he got her on the lip, and she’s being treated for the injury at the hospital.”

Video of the incident is not (yet) now available online…

ETA: I found a copy of the bite. Seriously, DO NOT WATCH IF YOU'RE TOO SENSITIVE. The dog doesn't hang on or anything, but its not pretty or for the faint-hearted. Sarzy, don't click. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/tv-a...ive-broadcast/

Geez. I feel for the news reporter, but I hope the dog isn't put to sleep for this. How awful to be rescused from death just to be escorted to it.

She was getting right in its face like she was going to kiss it or something. I thought is was just one of those basic rules of dogs that you don't put your face near theirs unless you really know the dog. I'm not even sure I'd do that with my girl and she's lovely.

Colorado tends to be on the forefront of animal rights. Pets are even eligible for restraining orders around here, so no, a judge won't automatically ordered it put down.

Oh shit, I just realized this is in high school and I meant to put it in news. Can a mod move it please?

Dayum. She was insisting on being in that dog's face for quite some time. Stupid. I do hope she is ok.

I got bitten on my lip by my dad's cousin's dog when i was a little kid. No scar or anything. And the dog was a small dog. If anyone was to blame, it was my parents for not being on top of the situation.

I have told my kids a thousand times to not try to pet a strange dog, or approach a stray dog, or get in the face of any animal.

Update: She had surgery, but since she is a TV personality/journalist, it was kind of a foregone conclusions that she would have some PS.

TV Anchor Undergoes Surgery After Newscast Dog Bite

Kyle Dyer Bitten During Interview With Max, Firefighter

    Deb Stanley, 7NEWS Producer

    POSTED: 10:43 am MST February 8, 2012
    UPDATED: 4:14 pm MST February 8, 2012

DENVER -- A Denver television anchor is in fair condition after reconstructive surgery. Kyle Dyer was bitten in the face by a dog while doing a live broadcast about a dog rescued by a firefighter.

Dyer was doing a follow-up interview on the rescue of Max, an 85-pound Argentine mastiff that fell into a lake on Tuesday while chasing a coyote in Lakewood. Firefighter Tyler Sugaski, who put on a wetsuit and rescued the dog, was also being interviewed when the attack occurred.

Dyer was kneeling on the floor of the set petting the dog when the dog bared its teeth, raised its head and bit her on the face. Dyer quickly moved away and the owner pulled his dog back.

The station posted a statement on its Facebook page that Dyer was "getting medical attention due to the injury" and the station was waiting to find out the extent of her injuries before issuing further information.

Denver Health issued a statement on Wednesday morning that Dyer was in fair condition in the Emergency Department and was being evaluated by the trauma team.

The statement said she was awake and visiting with family who asked the hospital to thank the community for their immediate outpouring of support.

On Wednesday at 4 p.m. the hospital issued a second statement that Dyer had reconstructive surgery to repair the injuries sustained from the dog bite. At the time, they said she remained in fair condition.

Dyer said she wanted viewers to know she is OK.

Sorry but if I had just suffered a trauma like being pulled from an icy pond, and she was in my face like that I would probably be a little sketchy and bite that bitch in the face too. Bitch it is a fucking DOG not a baby, what the fuck are you doing with your life if you don't know not to do that, dummy.

Yes, getting right in the face of a rescued, probably traumatized dog is a brilliant idea. Not a lot of sympathy for the reporter, although maybe the shelter staff should have taught her some dog etiquette.

The dog may need some serious training and socializing before he's adopted, though. edit: Okay I missed the part where it said he did have home. but still, some proper training may be in order.

I was bitten in the face by our dog when I was very little. I still have scars and my lips don't really move right. But my mom never blamed the dog, only herself for not preventing it. We had the dog for another 8 year or so before it died of old age. And this was a pinscher.
