Hurricane Wilma
Anyone here in the path of this Hurricane? Forecasters say it will hit southern Florida. It broke a record per my husband the Hurricane Man. It dropped down to 882 mb and the last hurricane to do that was Gilbert in 1988 and it dropped to 888 mb. Pretty unsettling to me.
Ill be saying a prayer for those in Florida

Well, I live in South Beach. They have already started the preliminary "scare everyone even though we don't know where or if the hurrican will hit our area, hurry up and get supplies, interrupt every single program with the same damn information" on our news stations. I mean I know it could possibly be bad, but really they have no idea this early. It's not even supposed to be near our area until Late Saturday or Sunday. I hope it's not bad,but I am not worrying yet.

Are you serious about your friend? My mom lived in Cypress and my sister now lives there. It use to be so beautiful but now all these subdivisions have gone in and the quiet and beauty are gone since they took the trees out. It was were you could be in the woods/country and in 5 minutes your in the hustle and bustle of it all. Just makes me so sad
I dont live too far from Cypress, just north of it.

This is probably a complete lie that my brother just made up but I thought I'd ask you guys anyway!
He said he heard that hurricanes are named according to how strong they are
i.e. Hurricane Alan = not bad
Hurricane Zack - Really bad

It's a complete lie. Hurricane names are chosen well in advance of the hurricane season. Atlantic hurricanes are named by the NOAA National Hurricane Center off predetermined lists that are recycled every few years. Atlantic hurricanes already have names through the year 2010.
