Seventh severed foot washes up on Canadian Coast
Quote:
Another gruesome mystery foot has washed ashore in Southern B.C. - the seventh since Aug. 2007.
The right foot was found encased in a running shoe on the shores of the Fraser River in Richmond on Tuesday. Two men walking along the river found what appeared to be a foot inside a white Nike running shoe, size 8.5.
A forensic autopsy has confirmed the remains are human and efforts are being made to identify the person the foot belonged to.
RCMP Corp. Annie Linteau said it appears to be a man's shoe, but that hasn't yet been confirmed.
"We've have posted photos on our website of the footwear in the hopes that someone may recognize it as belonging to perhaps a missing loved one."
Linteau said there's been no evidence so far to support foul play in connection to any of the seven discoveries.
Police and the coroner's office say it appears that all the remains separated from the body through a natural process.
"There were no tool markings and it just did not appear that they were severed or forcibly removed," Linteau said in an interview.
All the found feet have been discovered tied up in running shoes. Experts have explained that the feet are found because as the body decomposes, the buoyant running shoe floats to the surface.
RCMP linked the first foot through DNA testing to a depressed man who went missing in July, 2007.
Two feet found separately in Richmond belong to the same woman, but she hasn't been identified.
Two male feet found separately on Valdez Island and Westham Island were matched to one man, and another lone male foot remains unidentified.
RCMP have been reviewing missing person cases for the past several months that have the highest probability of being found in the water.
"We're talking here about people that may have gone missing from a boat, missing fishermen, planes that may have gone down, etcetera," said Linteau.
If police suspect a missing person is linked to the foot, they then have to begin the process of obtaining a DNA sample if it's not already in their file.
Linteau said they've used a number of experts in this case to try and unlock the mystery of why the feet are being found, including oceanographers, forensic entomologists and forensic pathologists.
"It is very unusual."

To me, it's so obvious that there is a serial killer's dumping ground nearby and the feet are decomposing from the bodies and washing ashore.

Isn't Beaverton Oregon fairly close by? I bet the feet belong to employees who accidentally wore Adidas to work....

^^^ yeah, because human appendages routinely wash up on all shores.
While I agree that since the feet don't appear to be severed off (I've read several articles on this over the last few months), so THAT in itself doesn't prove foul play, but come on ... law enforcement coming out and saying that they don't suspect foul play is just IGNORANT!! These bodies are being weighed down and then decomposing and separating and washing ashore ... just like poor Laci and Conner Peterson.
Two sets of matched feet and three separate unmatched feet (so five bodies are missing) washing up in the same vicinity in two years. COME ON!!

Unless this was a one-of-a-kind pair of Nike men's running shoes, I'd say it was like the other 50,000 pairs of shoes that Nike sold in that style. Did they post the entire foot with the shoe or just the shoe?
(I can't believe Conan O'Brien is talking about this as I'm typing about it! Creeeepppeeeeee!)

I can't believe there have been seven severed feet and they still try to claim it's not foul play. Pfft. Obviously it is. Duh. They didn't just walk there on their own.
