Woman arrested after teen seen riding in a cardboard box on top of her van

Jackie Denise Knott is the 37-year-old mother who was arrested Sunday morning after police pulled her over after noticing the 13-year-old girl riding in a cardboard box on top of Knott's van. Similar to car surfing, so far there's no name for this bizarre activity. Knott told police there was a reason her daughter was up there with the box.

Albertville, Alabama, Police spokesman Sgt. Jamie Smith said Knott told police officers, "The box was too big to go inside the van, and she would be able to hold it down if she was inside the box."
Knott was pulled over on U.S. 431, and was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Her daughter, who wasn't hurt, was turned over to a relative. Knott reportedly told officers that the girl was safe because the box was secured to the van with a wire clothes hanger.

they talked about this on a local radio show one morning last week.. apparently, it was the girls suggestion.. the box was for some church function where they were to sleep outside in the boxes and fast for something like 30 hours to bring awareness to child hunger.. in any case, the mom should have been a mom and told her hell no.. they had 2 other boxes in their van and that was why the last one wouldn't fit..
