Evil drug user jailed for killing girlfriend's toddler

An "evil" drug user who killed his girlfriend's son was jailed yesterday while she walked free despite having covered up months of abuse he had inflicted on the toddler.

Wayne Davenport, 26, repeatedly attacked two-year-old Joshua Jones before beating him to death while his girlfriend Nichola Bowman, 24, was out for a drink.
The court heard that Davenport, who had been smoking cannabis, launched into the attack after flying into a rage when the youngster woke up.
Joshua died from swelling to his brain but later examinations found a host of previous injuries including Davenport's teeth marks on his arm, two fractured ribs, and bruises to his penis, back, thighs and knees.
Just a week before his death, Joshua was discharged from hospital with a double broken left arm, which Davenport had caused.
However, the court heard that Bowman lied to authorities about the cause of the injury to protect her lover.
Davenport, who was found guilty of manslaughter for the fatal attack at the couple’s home in Runcorn, Cheshire, on November 6, was jailed for six years at Chester Crown Court.
Bowman was found guilty of causing or allowing her son’s death but was yesterday handed a six-month sentence suspended for two years after a judge described her as a “victim” in the case.
Mr Justice Ouseley said Bowman was so desperate to have a man in her life that she had "closed her eyes to what was obvious".
Bowman's barrister, Stephen Riordan QC, said that his client had been duped by Davenport after he met her in 2007.
He said: “Evil came in July 2007 in the form of Wayne Davenport.
"It was evil clothed at that time in what was for her a most attractive form because he brought romance into her life, bombarding her with flowers, poems and presents."
The court heard that Davenport has a record of violent attacks on ex-partners.

That's what I thought. No one I know who smokes pot ever gets angry and violent. Totally opposite.

Unbelievable the bitch is called a victim! There's no way she didn't know what was going on. Bruises, broken arms and teeth marks are pretty hard to ignore! As usual in these cases, she chose 'love' over her own child.

Such a beautiful baby, and his life was ended by that sick motherfucker. That useless piece of trash didn't even try to save her son... wtf is up with that.

Unfortunately, we live in a cruel world where ANYTHING is possible. I think people who murder infants should be faced with the death penalty.

She's getting shit faced while her poor, innocent baby is being beat to death. Some women should just of been born infertile.

Um... I have a really had time POT was the only thing he was doing... maybe drinking as well?

And the baby had PREVIOUS abuse... other than the guy's teeth marks, how could the judge just assume SHE didnt abuse her kid. I have also have a hard time believe someone who allows their child to repeatedly be beated doesnt damn well allow themselves the SAME thing.
