Default Mother finds missing son after 27 yrs--on Facebook

A mother was reunited with her son 27 years after the boy's father whisked him away to live in Hungary when her sister tracked him down on the social networking website Facebook.

Avril Grube, 62, who lives in Poole, Dorset, says she was given custody of her son Gavin Paros after her marriage to a Hungarian man broke down in 1982.

His father, who died in 2006, had visiting rights but took him to Hungary and Ms Grube has not seen him since.

But Mr Paros met his mother again this week after being found on Facebook by his aunt, Beryl Wilson, who lives in Liverpool, and had spent years trying to trace him, even contacting the Hungarian Embassy and taking the family's case to Margaret Thatcher when she was in No 10.

Ms Wilson told the BBC that Mr Paros's father had visitation rights and had said that he was taking the boy to the zoo. "When he didn’t arrive back we found out he had taken him back to Hungary," she said. "My sister was devastated, her health suffered. I tried everything... but no-one wanted to know.”

In March, Ms Wilson typed her nephew’s name into an internet search engine and could not believe it when his Facebook profile came up correctly showing he had been born in Liverpool and naming his mother.

Mr Paros, who turns 30 on Saturday and is married with three children, had been trying to trace his family for the past five years and finally met his mother again this week.

“They have been hugging, really, really happy," Ms Wilson said. “At Christmas my sister had a stroke; she suffers from angina, diabetes and chronic nose bleeds... but it is very important that now is the time she spends with her son because she is not a well lady.”

Sounds like this happened just in time.

I don't know how someone can do this to a (good) parent. I would die if my husband took my kid away from me.

That mom missed out on so much, so sad, hope she lives long enought to get to know him!
