Really just the basics, efcharisto (poli), parakalo, adio, kalimera, kalinikta, estiatorio (my favourite ), of course the name of the dishes...
I studied ancient greek in high school so I can read greek without problem and understand what a text is about but since the modern pronounciation is different, I don't understand it when peolpe talk To many "i" sounds, it confuses me

But I can always show off my "andra moi ennepe mousa polutropon hos mala polla planchte..."

    Too many
I live in the French-speaking part, work in the Swiss-German-speaking part (Swiss-German has not much to do with German, basically it is a disease of the mouth IMO ), and my BF lives in the Italian-speaking part. I'm not even mentioning our fourth national (but not official) language, Rumantsch.
Of course you have a different mentality going with each language

Oh don't tell me, I studied German at university and a couple of times they made us listen to some tapes of Austrian and Swiss German... ...I guess I'll stick to the Berliner German

When I go strolling about during my lunch break my ears get offended by those weird guttural sounds. Sometimes I even glare at people because I can't believe they are not aware of the ugliness of what comes out of their mouth They must think I am a madwoman
Oh and I'm the only French-speaking one on my team at work, apart from my boss who's bilingual. It's tough since they won't make the effort of speaking normal German at least when I'm around. But most of the time they don't talk about interesting stuf anyway

@Barbara: That sounds so complicated!! Do people at least know English well there? It would be hard for tourists if they had to know 3 different languages according to which part they visit
