Saw India.Arie in concert on July 30th. It was amazing. Love her.
Also last Friday morning, I went to see Justin Timberlake. He performed live on Beale Street. It was part of the GMA concert series.

I saw Tool twice this week. I am still beaming. If I had more funds, I'd follow them around the country like a puppy. Nobody puts on a show like Tool. It's a complete visual/musical/spiritual experience. I love this band with every fiber of my being, but you already knew that.

Twice?! Ok, you've convinced me. I'm going to find some more of their music. I've only ever heard a few songs, but they've got to be good to go to two shows in a row...in a week!

It's been 4 years since I last got to see them and since they take so long to make records, you gotta take em while you can get em. And yes, they are that good live.
The new record "10,000 days" is a masterpiece imo. I have'nt taken it out of my cd player since I've got it. Get your hands on that one, "Lateralus"(2001) and "Aenima"(1996) as well. They're all great works.
Their earlier stuff "Undertow"(1993) and the EP "Opiate" are good too, but I prefer the latter material. They also have a live cd called "Salival" which features their cover of Zeppelin's "No quarter" which I think is just as good as the original, which is'nt an easy task. But "Salival" is damn near impossible to get because it was limited edition.
I can't say enough good things about this band. You have to hear/absorb the material for yourself. I have a bunch of live stuff on my computer. I'll try to upload it to ysi if I can. I always have trouble doing stuff like that so I can't make any promises. Anytime I can get someone new into Tool, I'm happy to oblidge them.

David Gilmour in Chicago back in April. About 3 weeks ago i SAW cROSBY sTILLS nASH AND yOUNG. both shows were fantastic.
On a side note...my FIRST concert was 3 dog Night and my second was Creedence Clearwater Revival. This may give you a hint as to my age.

How did you like Motley Crue? I just saw them in Las Vegas with Aerosmith last week, and I was disappointed. Maybe I've gone to too many Crue concerts, but this one was arranged exactly the same way that they did it two years ago. At least Aerosmith had a more original set.

Cirque Soliel Celine dion
A New Day
Actually that show would change almost anyone's preconcieved notion about her. She's hardly a pop artist. Definately had the audience captured with her emotion. Not to mention the others artists, dancers, musician.

thought i'd revive this thread.
went to the cully jazz festival tonight.
saw medeski martin and wood, and yaron herman trio.
we bought the tickets mostly for mmw and they were fantastic and very funky but the big surprise was yaron herman. damn, he's a fucking genius, a 20-something israeli guy and probably the best jazz pianist i've ever seen, crazy improv, was all over the place, even reaching into the piano and plucking the strings by hand. sooo amazing.
he's touring all over the place and i can't recommend them enough.
