I can't even say what my favorite band is, let alone my favorite song. It changes daily.

Out of the 20.000 songs in my iTunes, 2000 got five stars. Most of them are rock songs.

yeah i have to cull my collection because between music and photos, i'm running out of room on my hard drive.
but, being the nerd that i am, i've spent years making 'best' lists with my fellow music nerd friends so a lot of thought has gone into it. it still changes a lot, but i'd say the top 5 all-time favourites remain pretty much the same. they might change order though.

Nirvana is always way up there, same with Bowie. The albums and songs change depending on location and season.

But then again, there are sooooo many bands. I can't even stick to one genre. I'm indie obsessed one moment, the next moment it's al about classic rock, and blues. And folk, and new wave. And jazz. I even listen to hip hop if it's decent (Roots, Beastie Boys). And then I love electro pop like Goldfrapp. Plus, I try to listen to real alien music, too. I have music from Korea, from Uganda......... Ugh, where do I begin?

All I can say is that I will forever be grateful for iTunes. It's all about structure. Sorry for the hijack, you started it.

    Carry on.

Ten Years After, CSNY, CCR, to many bands to many great songs to narrow it down to one...I'd have a favorite today and tomorrow it would change. Alvin Lee, one of my favorites. I love Werewoves of London too.

My favorite Humble Pie isn't on your list Calcifer and at the moment I don't remember what it is...

yeah, i posted some less obvious songs. because in general, i prefer listening to the less popular songs of a band. mainly because with older bands, the popular songs - or the classics - tend to overshadow the rest of a band's body of work. and you can't tell if they truly had talent by listening to their biggest hits - you need to listen to the lesser known songs, even the ones on crappy albums & the b-side singles, i.e. the ones that are otherwise slowly forgotten over time. or those brilliant little live segments that you can only find on youtube!

    more popular humble pie songs:

    live with me

    hot 'n' nasty

    30 days in the hole

    roadrunner

Ah thanks Calcifer. I Don't Need No Doctor and Thirty Days in the Hole. I was 18, lonely and partying. Buying albums wasn't something I did much, I was a poor chick! We we're talking about Humble Pie at work recently. They made some great music. I wish I could post youtube.

Ooh so many good choices! I love so many of these. I've just gone and bought some AC DC and CCR My two picks are a bit more recent, and they're my personal favourites, I know they're not the *best* ever but i love them. They're Be Quiet and Drive by Deftones, it just speaks to me of freedom, and Jane Says by Jane's Addiction. J'adore!

copy the bolded part. i think it's called the video code iirc.

click on that youtube button thingy when you're writing a new post.
    then you get this:

    [ YOUTUBE ][ /YOUTUBE ]

paste the video code in between both parts, like this:

    [ YOUTUBE ]jlan43Isosk[ /YOUTUBE ]

    and then it should work.
(don't add any spaces! i added them here to make it more clear.)
