Bizarre isn't the word.
Cher, Tina Turner and Kate Smith do a Beatles tribute.
Who's Kate Smith? I think she made singing the National Anthem famous. Trust me, that isn't Dame Edna, but the gal can sing.
YouTube - Cher, Tina & ..err..Kate

With all that talk about the RatPack in another thread,
I found this great stuff on YouTube from the great
Dean Martin! (intro by Johnny Carson, interruptions by
Frank Sinatra).

Found another great Three Degrees clip on YouTube!
Wow, they were so much better than, say, Destiny's Child!
They're doing a Beatles medley, oy.

Elton John-Tiny Dancer (1971) This is just his piano and his voice. To me it's somehow much more powerful and intimate stripped down like this, even with the sped-up tempo at times. I never liked the recorded version as much with all the country-ish steel/slide guitars.

This is from Tosca; she looks as if she's actually weeping at the end and anyone who's ever tried to sing while crying even just a little bit can appreciate the achievement:
Last but not least....
I had no idea Placido Domingo was going to sing at the Olympics closing ceremony! My late mother was a huge opera fan and it's something we always shared. Anyway, Placido was her favorite and mine. We met him a few times, briefly, and he always struck me as the kindest man. It was such a pleasure to see and hear him again! He still sounds (and looks) marvelous at 68...damn.
Here he is in one of his finest moments, also from Tosca. As the comments indicate, this was at the Met in NYC, 1985, and we were there! What a trip to see that performance again, after all these years. I love youtube!
