"Our Lips are Sealed" written by together by Jane Weidlin of the GoGo's and (her then-boyfriend, I think) Terry Hall of Fun Boy Three. GoGo's recorded it first:

I thought this was interesting. One of my favorite songs is "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face", which is like a signature song of Roberta Flack's. However, it was originally written by another performer, Ewan McColl, for his wife, folk performer Peggy Seeger. So, here is Peggy Seeger's version.

Wow, this is a serious necro - where did 5 years go???

Anyway, I'm posting this one based on watching Donnie Darko. The theme song for the movie is "Mad World", which was originally a Tears for Fears song. The song was remade for the movie by Gary Jules. It is more somber and portentous, especially because of the scene that it accompanies. I like it more than the original. The video for the remake was directed by Michel Gondry, the visionary director of "The Science of Sleep":

My favorite is Adam Lambert's. The pathos and richness of his tone are still stunning to me. I spent way too long trying to embed the video, and I give up.
