I feel exactly the same way. I've never been a fan of Christmas Pop - Jingle Bell Rock, etc. - but I love a lot of the religious carols. I adore Fairytale of New York also. My season isn't complete without several listens.

excellent choices. at my house on christmas it was usually a mix of some cheesy christmas songs (my mother gets all nostalgic on christmas and likes to put those on) and then my father getting sick of them and putting on classical music instead.

plus, i find the vast majority of actual christmas songs suck ass.
i do like the pogues' 'fairy tale in new york'. and i quite enjoyed bob dylan's recent christmas album, but mostly because he sounds bored and slightly pissed off throughout the whole thing. and he's totally taking the piss on the video

sounds familiar. my mum likes to listen to gypsy music on christmas. and my dad is the kind of person who likes those german tv shows with lots of schlagers. at the end of the evening, when they've succesfully chased everyone away, they usually play classical music.

Did anyone mention 2000 miles from the pretenders, or Better Days from the goo goo dolls? Those are my favs along with Britney Spears' My only wish this year, and Donny Hathaway's This Christmas.
Somebody blow Mel Gibson Already- Michael K

I'm obviously not into the traditional stuff. I like Savage Garden's (Darren Hayes) Last Christmas and Debbie Gibson's Sleigh Ride and Jon Bon Jovi's Please Come Home for Christmas.

I have to admit I like "All I Want For Christmas is You". And Mariah was gorgeous back then.

"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" by Frank Sinatra is a fav and "Frosty The Snowman" by Fiona Apple.

    This is my #1 song:

Weird as hell video and I love it. It's not meant to be taken seriously obviously. It's hilarious. That would scare the shit out of kids who like Santa. I've always thought Santa was creepy anyway.
