Can you be a great actress and a great singer?
I was wondering. do you think it's possible to be a great actress & a singer
at the same time. And which female actress/singer do you think has the best
acting AND singing talent?
I started thinking about this after I found out that Jennifer Landon
(daughter of Michael Landon of 'Highway to Heaven', 'Little House on the
Prairie', & 'Bonanza' fame) who followed her dad's acting career and really
did well in the daytime soap AWS (As the World Turns) went on to launch a
singing career. I believe she only has 1 song out right now, called Slide,
but it's really good. You can check it on iTunes if you like.
Any thoughts?"

I'd agree with Cher. Slim list.
JHo sucks at both, imo, but she used to sell a lot of tickets and albums. Madonna is a good entertainer, not a great singer, even worse actress.

I don't know about you gus, but I think Jennifer Lopez is an excellent actress and an exceptional singer! How else could she be so successful? (end of sarcasm)
Good list, Chalet.

A lot of actresses back in the day could do both so very well but not the ones today. I agree with Cher, Dolly Pardon, and I don't care but I think Olivia Newton John wasn't so bad.

Doris Day (Calamity Jane etc) - awesome acting, awesome singing.
Nicole Kidman isn't too bad.
Debbie Reynolds
Catherine Zeta Jones and Renee Zellweger did pretty well in Chicago.
Lindsay Lohan - good actress and her singing isn't too bad

I agree with Chalet's list.
Hm, Lauryn Hill wasn't bad at all in her secondary role in Sister Act 2, and the girl's got serious pipes. Of course, her acting career never went anywhere (and minus one succesful album, neither did her solo singer career).

Alanis Morissette is turning out to be a pretty good actress, but I seriously hope she doesn't give up music because of it.

Yeah Nicole Kidman can sing (though it's probably studio-ed) and she's a pretty good actress, or was...before the botox

Mary Stuart Masterson - she starred in 4 of my favourite films, so I think she's a great actress as it is...As an added bonus she really has a good set of pipes (There is a video on youtube of her performing in a Broadway play, and I reckon she could outsing many of the current crop of pop-tarts),

The only one I immediately came up with was Whitney Houston.
I second Lauryn Hill. Just recently saw her in Sister Act 2 on TV and I can't believe she ever looked so young!!

Cher's brilliant on both. Dolly Parton, Barbra Streisand and Whitney Houston are good, too.
