Default Hozier- Take me to Church

Have you guys seen this? It's getting a lot of airplay here. I'm usually not one for popular music, but my car radio adapter broke so I've been listening to the radio for the past few days. I'm wondering how popular this is in the States, given the subject matter. I think it's amazing. Very powerful, but heartbreaking. I have a lot of respect for this guy having the balls to make a video like this, which (unfortunately) might make him less popular in some areas. No one likes their own prejudices and brutality thrown in back their face. Not to mention criticism of religious hypocrisy, with the use of some damn eloquent lyrics:

Take me to church, I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins, you can sharpen your knife.

I hear it on AltNation and on the other acoustic channel on Sirius all the time and I've heard it a few times on the local Alt station. I haven't seen the video, but I love the song. Very haunting.

I like this song. It gets stuck.

I really need to expand my musical horizons. This song is haunting and spectacular. I really liked a few of the songs this video led to.

Also, following the video around and reading about the artist, I read an interview he did where he talked about the reception of the video. He said people were more upset that two men were kissing than a guy was getting kicked to death. Makes me sad.

Love Hozier! His whole CD is good. I saw him on SNL a few weeks ago and have been hooked since.

They've been playing it to death here. I can't get away from it, good song but I've heard it way too much.

I think this is one of the few times I have heard a song and loved it the first time hearing it. The violence in the video is disturbing. I like the version of the video, the radios are now playing a version w/more background music, which I don't like.

I downloaded it off iTunes. It is still "my thing" since I don't listen to regular radio unless it is the country or oldies stations.

Wow, I can't believe I didn't see this thread until now. I loved this song the first time I heard it. It's on constant rotation on stations out here, and my kids love it, too. I honestly though it was some kind of Elton John song because of the soaring chorus. The only way I was able to track it down and figure out who sang it was by googling "sharpen your knife".
