    Default AC/DC Announce Retirement ?

Hot off the radio just now. I'll try and find a press release to post. End of an era. Aussie bogans will be bereft.

Edit: Back up, back up. It's only a "strong rumour from a good source" at the moment. Watch this space.

The one song I love by them is "Big Balls". A classic indeed.

Omg--the b/f will come unGLUED if they retire. Never mind he only listens to the old stuff, non-stop, and has never seen them in person (I have). He will LOSE it.

Hold yer horses. It's still an unconfirmed rumour but local gossip suggests it's true.

I always preferred the Bon Scott era of their music.

of course he was dead by the time I was born though.

Apparently one of the boys, Malcolm Young, has been "ill" for a while but recently returned to Oz for further treatment after a lifetime of heavy smoking. The band made a pact that if one of them was unable to perform any more they would all call it quits. Still no confirmation though.

    AC/DC
    3 mins
After forty years of life dedicated to AC/DC, guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young is taking a break from the band due to ill health. Malcolm would like to thank the group’s diehard legions of fans worldwide for their never-ending love and support.
In light of this news, AC/DC asks that Malcolm and his family’s privacy be respected during this time. The band will continue to make music.
    So not COMPLETELY retired

Sounds like it could be some kind of dementia or Alzheimer's. If he needs respite care it must be pretty serious. He's 61.

    APRIL 16, 2014 - 11:52 PM The Age

AC/DC lead singer Brian Johnson has quashed persistent rumours the band is about to retire but he did admit a band member had "a debilitating illness".

That band member is believed to be founding guitarist and songwriter Malcolm Young, who is understood to be with his family in Sydney in a frail state suffering from advanced memory loss.

On Wednesday morning, a source close to the family told Fairfax Young was unlikely to play again and could be moved to respite care. But later on Wednesday, Johnson told London's The Telegraph the band intended to keep its date with a Vancouver recording studio in May.

"We are definitely getting together in May in Vancouver," Johnson said. "We're going to pick up some guitars, have a plonk, and see if anybody has got any tunes or ideas."

"If anything happens, we'll record it."

Johnson told The Telegraph the band was not splitting up but he admitted an uncertain future.

"I wouldn't like to say anything either way about the future. I'm not ruling anything out.

"One of the boys has a debilitating illness, but I don't want to say too much about it. He is very proud and private, a wonderful chap.
We've been pals for 35 years and I look up to him very much."

Johnson added that the mooted 40th anniversary world tour plans - initially said to include 40 shows in 40 venues were on hold.

"That would be a wonderful way to say bye bye," Johnson said. "We would love to do it. But it's all up in the air at
    the moment."

Aww I hate that for Malcom. The quiet force in the band.
