Default Where do you download your MP3 files?

I need a new place to download (preferably) free MP3 files. I used to use Blubster, which was free, but it doesn't work anymore. Any ideas? Thanx.

I use Kazaalite or Soulseek if I'm looking for just single music files.

If I'm looking for whole albums, I've downloaded the bit torrent program Azureus, and I use torrentspy.com with that. I love that because I often get albums before they've even been released. Its also great for downloading movies and tv shows.

I don't use anything right now. I was using Kazaa lite, but pickings are slim these days... a search on there doesn't bring up the amounts it used to. Sad.

I can't get stuff like limewire or any of those to work, something in my router is blocking access.

I use Soulseek too! I have to be careful, though, for some reason their system is really unstable for me.

I thought there was some upgrade that fixed the instability? Mine seems to work fine....maybe check to see if you have the latest version?

I used to love Ares. Then the dorm discovered people were using Ares instead of Kazaa when they shut off access to Kazaa on their network. So, Ares don't work anymore either and I'm stuck using MyTunes Redux and hoping other people have the songs I want.

Will do. It just seems like whenever I try and download something with a lot of hits, I have to tread lightly, or my computer shuts off.

I use DC++ (direct connect). You connect to hubs, then download from an individual. I can get whole albums, movies, etc off it (and it restarts later if the connection is lost for whatever reason). My daughter uses soulseek - she says she can find stuff on there that she can't on DC. Plus, most hubs you have to register for - although it's better that way anyway, less snooping by the powers that be.

I used to use torrents, but I'm very leary of them, since all that a spy has to do is to start downloading and they can get the IP addresses of everyone hitting it. There are risks with all of them, but I feel more comfortable with DC.

Be careful downloading free MP3s guys; the RIAA is suing people left right and center.

    Try a legitimate site instead.

I use ftp, bit torrent or usenet (easynews) to download mp3s and stuff (mostly we download TV series, not mp3s). It's still legal to download in this country, and I hope it stays that way although it probably wont. I miss audiogalaxy :/

/Edited to add: Thanks for mentioning Ares, btw, I didn't even know it existed. And it works great
