Default Amazing Cover Artists

Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U (Originally done by Prince)

Johnny Cash - Hurt (Originally done by Nine Inch Nails)

IMO these artists *owned* the song not cover it.

I will just say, every cover Tori Amos has done has been at least interesting. I don't expect anyone to have any idea what they sound like, though.

She's done several gorgeous covers, including Smells Like Teen Spirit (Kurt Cobain said he loved her version and wishes his had been more like it), Famous Blue Raincoat (Leonard Cohen), Losing my Religion (REM), I'm On Fire (Bruce Springsteen), and a bunch of others.

Elvis Presley - Bridge Over Troubled Water (Live 1970) original: Simon & Garfunkel. Very dramatic, big, gospellike version, with great backing vocals. I much prefer it over Art Garfunkels fleeting vocals.

Peter Sellers - A Hard Day's Night

and of course the many covers done by one of my idols, William Shatner

Ahmet and Dweezil Zappa - "Baby One More Time" (britney spears)

The Starting Line - "I'm Real" (jennifer lopez)

Halifax - "Straight Up" (paula abdul)

Rufio - "Dont You Forget About Me" (simple minds)

MxPx - "Summer of 69" (bryan adams)

The Ataris - "The Boys of Summer" (Don Henley)

HIM - "Wicked Game" (chris isaak)

Thats all I can think of right now...mostly pop songs changed to rock songs...

I love it too! I used to have a little special release cd with it on it, but I lost it.

For some reason it always makes me think of 'Operation Peter Pan'... they kind of remind me of each other.

I can't go with that one, but I recall Elvis did a superb rendition
of "Unchained Melody," that song from the pottery scene in Ghost.
I imagine it was part of his '68 comeback special.

I'm not an expert, but the only version I know of "Unchained Melody" by Elvis was one he did shortly before his death, looking terribly bloated while accompanying himself on the piano during a concert.

I with Haggard on:

MxPx - "Summer of 69" (bryan adams)

The Ataris - "The Boys of Summer" (Don Henley)

I'm with College Student on Eddie Vedder's "Masters of War." I also like Pearl Jam's "Last Kiss".

And I love Marilyn Manson's covers...Tainted Love, Sweet Dreams, I Put a Spell on You, Personal Jesus.

Hey how about Bono and U2's version of "Unchained melody"? I get goosebumps every time I listen to it.
Bono's voice is just amazing.
