    Default Soundtrack of You

So my work are running a competition called Soundtrack of You at the moment and I thought I'd share. You have to choose five songs that say something about you, not necessarily your favourite songs but ones that talk about maybe a snapshot or a moment in your life. I've submitted mine:

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts - I Love Rock n Roll (because I really do)
Britney Spears - Stronger (because I've been through ten tonnes of shit and I now feel awesome. Also my chair dancing is epic)
Primal Scream - Country Girl (because I'm country and I love drinking, dancing and hairy farmer boys)
Greenday - Time of your Life (because I have learned to make lemonade from life's lemons)
Eddie Vedder - Guaranteed (because I upped and left everything to start over again. And it's the best song ever)

It was really hard whittling it down to five songs, I went through about fifty before I got to these and I'm still not convinced they're the right ones.

    Anyone care to share theirs?

Robert Plant - Thru With the Two Step

    Ricky Nelson - Garden Party

The Moody Blues - Vintage Wine

    1. Somewhere Over the Rainbow (particularly the Judy Garland version, reminds me of the melancholy of my childhood) 2. Heart of Gold (Neil Young, always searching...) 3. Across the Universe (The Beatles, again...searching...) 4. You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go (Bob Dylan, always reminds me of my child who was lost shortly before birth) 5. Just Like Heaven (The Cure, this song reminds me of how I feel when I am around my husband, and how we met, and how we are still.) I can't seem to make a list using the enter key, weird.

These aren't my favourite songs but they either reflect a part of my life or have some other meaning to me:

    1. The Cutter - Echo & The Bunnymen (all time favourite for belting out in the shower)
    2. Smash It Up - The Damned (this is the best song to inspire me to get off my arse and take back control of my life - on high rotation after break ups)
    3. The Song is You - Frank Sinatra (I used to sing it to my mum)
    4. Jimtown Road - The Mills Brothers (my dad's favourite for crooning of a Sunday morning)
    5. Hey - The Pixies (I don't know what it is about this song of all their brilliant stuff, but as soon as I hear the opening "Hey!" I feel my heart skip a beat or something - also another great shower song)
"You're going to die tomorrow, Lord Bolton. Sleep well."

Nobody's Fault But Mine-Led Zepplin. It is an anthem in my life that only I can fix my life.
Cool Change-Little River Band. I love the water and being around it so this song speaks to me.
Evil Woman-ELO. Yeah cause I am.
    I Love It Loud-Kiss. Cause I do.
Gold Dust Woman-Fleetwood Mac. Cause my dream growing up was to be Stevie Nicks.
I am going to come and burn the fucking house down... but you will blow me first."

These are great! I love this kind of thing, it's such a nice snapshot of people's lives and experiences.

The competition is a voting thing and my playlist is currently number ten so I might actually win the prize

A trip to Edinburgh to see Pete Tong DJ in a fancy-pants club, and lots of nice Ballantine's swag

    Foo Fighters - Monkey Wrench
Daft Punk - Something about us
The Beatles - Two of us

Wow, five IS hard. But the description helped--songs that are meaningful and/or deeply connected to a time in your life

    1. Kate Bush--Running Up That Hill
    2. Tori Amos--Silent All These Years
    3. Jeri Southern--Every Time We Say Goodbye/Peggy Lee--Again/Billie Holiday--Don't Explain (sorry but this really IS a 3 way tie...)
    4. Ten Thousand Maniacs/Natalie Merchant--About The Weather
    5. Roy Orbison--In Dreams

I can think of more so maybe it's 'mix tape' time, lol.
Did you know that every time a parent gives in to their kid's whines and buys them candy at the checkout lane, a kitten gets diabetes?-Dlisted
I dislike groups of people, but I love individuals. Every person you look at, you can see the universe in their eyes, if you're really looking.
